I bet 80% of people who leave bars are over the limit, cops could make millions for the government in fines and get people off the roads and reduce traffic and the demand for foreign oil.

Contrary to the other posts, that is not entrapment. In order for it to be entrapment, the officer would have to put undue pressure on you to do something you would not normally do. Sitting near a bar is completely passive, so there is no entrapment.
It is, however, illegal in the fact you need a reasonable suspicion to make a traffic stop. Leaving a bar is not enough.
In addition, it makes for poor public relations. |

who ever said that they don't?
A practice of "tire chalking" was used around here until it was banned. The officers would chalk the tires and then later down the road the vehicle could be easily identified as a bar patron that same night. |

Yes, it is called entrapment and illegal. How many deaths could have been prevented by the cops watching obviously drunk people getting into a car and down the road killing someone. We never want to entrap a dangerous drunk ! That would be infringing on the drivers rights. Makes me sick ! |
