my atv was stolen 5 weeks ago ,i told the police who stole it where they lived and all that good stuff ,then we seen the boy on it, it had diffrent plastic on it well we finally went ourselves and told him to give it back or else ,so we took it with him threatining us to burn our house and kill us ,all this and the cops could have got a warrant on suscpison and got it back and put him in jail,i called to let them know we got it back, they said good, who had it we told them and they said well, thats kool, glad you got it back..what the hell,how far do we have to go to get somthing done about cops who wont do their jobs they protect ceartin people around here and i have had it,this whole place is corrupted,almost all of them protect ceartin people,what can i do about it?

i knew it was mine he tried to sell it to a friend he told them where it came from it didnot look like man it was stripped of evrything of value and still had vin #on itand trust the cop situation around here is not normal, when the cops pull up at houses you see people coming in and out all the time and the cops pull up and take money from them, there is so going on,i dont BAD MOUTH cops i take up for the ones who do there jobs,these are protecting thier family members evryone is related except us,they get stuff done when they want to,it all depends,i didnt want to let 5000.oo go to a crackhead that has never worked a day in his life and gets welfare,so i could watch him ride my atv around in front of the police ,he stopped and spoke to them while he was riding it., so no i wasnt bad mouthing cops just trying to do something about these that are corrupt..

You think that's bad, my own mother lied to cops and said I hit her. (I didn't) They believed her, why, because she's the MOTHER. Ah ha. They told me they were going to arrest me, (great, I get kicked in the head by my own mother, and then I get arrested for being abused, right on!) So yeah, small town cops are relatively worthless. If it interrupts their usual coffee drinking, pulling people over for headlights out schedule, they just want the situation resolved, and they don't care who they hurt when they make their ill-informed decisions. It's not THEIR ATV, so they don't care, no great loss to them whether or not they retrieve it for you. :( They'd rather keep nice-nice with the criminals so they can get their free marijuana/crack supply going. Yup, I feel your pain! |

if you have the serial numbers, you could ask the police check the serial numbers on the atv that you think is yours but looks different |

How long did the police have before you went yourself.
After the police took the info, they would have to do a report, and then turn it over to the dectitives. They would have to put it on a priority list of crimes to look into.
For example, it can take them one or two weeks, if they have heavy case loads
The officers you tell, normally don't just go look.
Next they would also have to have the serial number of the ATV for a positive match, and/or some other exact marking. |

Well, for starters it was dumb to put yourself in the position to be harmed or retailiated against when you were doing the COPS job for you. Secondly, cops do listen. Its the citizens who dont pay attention. When is the last time you took a state law test? Do you understand that just beacause you THINK that item was yours because it looked like it, is NOT probable cause to get a warrant, moreless take him to jail...... Before you go bad mouthing officers, try researching a few laws first. |

GO TO YOUR LOCAL TV STATION, NEWSPAPER AND GET IT INTO THE PUBLIC.......
small town i am in, same thing here. Ignore the dopers, lock up others for bad checks, not paying child support etc.

um, probably cause they have more important things to do. and from the sounds of it, or at least what i could get out of your English skills... you knew who the guy was, and they probably thought it was a civil matter rather than a criminal one ESPECIALLY when you went and got it yourself. You obviously knew who did it. I think maybe they consider stolen vehicles, actually stolen, not just taken from someone for revenge. |
