All the above are biffs.( except Ian & helen)
Most ppl have faith in the police it is the actual judicial system and bureaucratic bull that gets ppl down |

Well, personally, when you report a crime they do sod all about it. |

Because the media never plays a story of a cop doing a good job (yet it happens all the time). They only play the story of a drunkn cop beating a woman in a bar(that rarley happens) |

I agree with DISCO....Alot of the police want to do there jobs...but when it comes to having to wake up a judge to get search warrents or any other thing that they need a judges permission for....its the judges that say no....Evidence could be right in front of a judge and it is never enough |

This is a problem all over the world. Only police can answer this. |

Because people are often to dumb to realize that it isnt the cops that are too blame for crime but rather criminals. It isnt the cops that want to tell you they cant do anything to help but rather idiotic legislation and judicial decisions that virtually tie their hands. |

Police enforce the laws
Legislators make the laws
People vote in the legislators.
People are responsible for laws. |

I think people have really lost faith in the government. Rememeber all the promises they made when they came into power. Have they delivered? Of course not.
The police get it in the neck because we are the ones in public view. |

In my state I know dealers who sell drugs to the cops, and this is while they are on duty. I didn't believe it but I went with him once and this was over a year ago and he still sells to the same cops. He's even done drugs with them, and yes while on duty. |

In a free society in a nation state, we ought not have "faith" in police, but "trust" and respect. Citizens ought to be taught what is a nation state and what are the police therein? Police do not have the roles of hero or father figure.
A nation state is "a monopoly of power (i.e. force)" The police are therefore the "thugs of the monopolist.". Police in America reflect the attitudes of the local power structure no more no less ---.
Due to the over-complexity of current legal thinking to remove citizen responsibility for civic order and change that responsibility to the state --- citizens have been ask to be come children and police have become mommies. But since police are human they carry their own preferences. A pretty red speeding may get a wave from one or a major ticket from different officers on different dates or cities.
Do Blacks get stopped more --- Yes, you bet? But the media may note this injustice --- but rarely reports the facts that Blacks commit and experience more crime. That may be a direct results of white liberal involvement to destroy the Black family structure since FDR.
Look at the Jude case in Milwaukee --- for example of police on Blacks, and on other police force members who do not go with the blue line. |

Perhaps it's because the standards for entry into the police force have dropped so much. It appears that we have to accept a poorer quality of officer. I have personally come across very thick and stupid police officers who are very willing to waste time on trivia because it's easy rather than tackle more serious matters.
There is also the fact that the courts deal out the most meanial sentences, for example, the scum that killed that 60 year old man by throwing bricks at him and got sentenced to 2 years jail. Absolute joke. |

Because police officers (not all of them) have continually acted like high school meathead bullies who have grown up to have and abuse authority. They hassle people for no reason, they lie to cover each other, they break laws themselves without fear of reprimand. |

The police have to enforce the law. They don't make the laws.
It is easier to blame them than put the blame on the law
makers.Use your vote to get the laws you want. |

I think some police think they are above the law. They have forgotten that they are here to serve and protect. But so some of them have gone the opposite way. Some of them abuse their power. I think they do not get proper training such as people skills. But of course there are a LOT of good cops out there. I had some that helped me in times of trouble and I really did appreciate them but I still say they need more training such as people skills. |

I don't think it is the police that are responsible for this, but the people who are in charge of the police, which is linked to your voted in officials. So, if you are not someone who has voted or is registered to vote, you really have nothing to say about this issue. If you are a voter, then vote for the person who will get the job done. |

because 'clearly' they are just not up to the job. they are there to serve the governments interest and not the publics. they are just uniformed revenue collectors with bad attitude. and mostly despised by the public. |

Officer Friendly's image has been transformed by the media and televison images of today. We don't know what to expect anymore, very little surprises us, and the final quotient of faith is enhanced or eroded by our personal experience. |

I was a victim of a road rage innicedent - the guy infront of me was on his phone & having a cigarette & 3 times didnt notice that the traffic lights had turned green. I tooted him, he got out of his car, spat all over my car, tried to open the doors, telling me how he was going to get his crowbar out of his boot & beat me to death.
I was 24 (female) & scared shitless - I got his numberplate, went straight to a main police station (the station took over a million to build only a couple of years before - money gone to waste) - there were NO policemen/women there. They had to call some in from elsewhere.
I waited 5 HOURS before I was told to come back the next day. I went back the next day & a few weeks later I got a letter in the post saying there was insufficient evidence.
Fcuking useless.
Next time I will get his numberplate, follow him & get my bf to beat the crap out of him.
After all, whats gonna happen to me - someone gonna call the police on me? Ha ha what a joke. |

Because of corruption at police departments in some cities and towns, many incidents of police brutality and responce time to an emergency is slower in ethnic or low-income neighborhoods than there are in other areas of cities. |

The criminal fraternity hasn't lost faith in the police. They know they've a very good chance of not getting caught or if caught getting a slapped wrist and nothing more! |

because the innocent get punished and the cops are the very ones enforceing it all. If we had a checking system that was FAIR, well it would be a different story but we do not. So as long as cops can be led by the hand by criminals to do their dirty work, well I say Boooo Hooo to cops in general as who to trust? |
