It wasn't for manslaughter.... he was charged with the murder of his wife. He should never have been given bail.

Well, everyone is entitled to a bail hearing. However, the judge doesn't have a crystal ball and won't be able to determine who is going to violate the terms of the release agreement with 100% certainty. Manslaughter isn't even as serious as murder so him receiving bail is not abnormal. He probably had to mortgage his home or had a lot of cash around to bail himself out. What happened when he was out is the worst-case scenario.
What case was this? Do you have a news story link? |

Manslaughter is the accidental killing of a person. He didn't mean to so he's not dangerous |

you need to ask that?
its cos he is a cop and the prisons are over crowded/under funded, so they thought they had an easy ride here by giving the cell to someone else. Obviously they were wrong. |

Usual reason.
As the Roman chappie questionned ca 2000 years ago - "Quis custodiet ipsos custodies?"
"Who guards the guards?" - in simple English.
Sounds like another balls-up - bail granted rashly, unwisely.
The only certainty is that no-one will accept the blame responsibility - and life carries on much as before.
Except for the deceased. |

I don't recall Tracie Andrews being a cop................she was charged with murder, she was granted bail. Not saying it's right, but it's not the first time! |

Actually out of the 3 murder charges; 1st, 2nd, and manslauther, you have the best chance of making bail on manslaughter. Altough it's not granted right away, what happens is for a murder/manslaughter charge within 24-72 of your arrest you are taken before the judge and a date is set for a bail hearing usually in superior court a few weeks down the line. |

I don't see his being a police officer as any matter of import. Many people can be permitted bail if they're up on manslaughter charges, it is at the judges discretion. |

He was given bail because you are innocent until proven guilty... This coming from a bail bondsman... |
