Why is the UK police force failing the people?
|
Everyone I talk to have not a word decent to say about the police, crime is out of control, police number crunchers conning everyone, monotonous drivel about how hard THEIR life is,how underpaid THEY are, poor me poor me whilst the country is on it's knees with a recession and unemployment spiralling yet police funding and pay increases are the norm.Question, should we demand a public vote of no confidence in the UK police and shift the management and employ whom we see are competent and not just in it for job security for life?

Because they're overpaid and underworked, and when they do something criminal, say, shoot a Brazilian 7 times at point-blank range in the head because he didn't speak a word of English, the police involved are then absolved of any crimes and given new identities.
And look around you too, a rise in gun and knife crimes, theft and arson are on the increase, as well as assault, and that's just the cops; for the average wage of £34,000 a year that a PC gets it makes you wonder what the difference would be if the cops were never around arresting people for being sarcastic to them whilst babies and such are murdered by their drug-addict parents, as seen in the papers recently, (despite being a council matter, police were also called on several occassions). |

I have been failed by the police and after the way i have been treated i will never trust them again. Let me explain.
In Feb 2005 my neighbours son and his friend were bored so they threw mud out my house while their parents were out. I told them to stop it but i just got a load of verbal abuse. I did try to speak to the parents but they said their son does not do things like that. Their son blamed another boy further up the street. I knew who it was cos i had watched them. It escalated pretty quickly. I had footballs kicked at my fence & windows, verbal abuse every time i went out, my fence was damaged, my daughter (5 at the time) had items thrown at her as she played in my garden and i got death threats. I kept records, called the council and the police who would just 'Have a word with them' which made things worse. I installed CCTV cameras at my own expense, did everything i was told to do and still nothing was ever done to help me. Finally when my hair was falling out from stress the council moved me across town.
A hire purchase company rep complained to the Police that i had committed theft by moving house and not telling his company about it. I did tell them by letter and over the phone. I was arrested, put in a fithy cell, interviewed and bailed. The police kept changing the bail date cos the company kept promising evidence but never provided it to the police. The officer tried to get me to accept a caution 'To get it over with' but my solicitor advised me not to accept it. They finally dropped the case after nearly 6 months.
They didn't want to help me when my life was a misery but they could not wait to arrest me when they had no proof. |

the British police are just labour party hench men. they go around legally embezzling money out of the people to feed the fascism within new labour....they are of no use to the people at all. frankly i think the British people would do better to withdraw local council funding for the police force and hire their own peoples! force that is there to answer to the people only!! and protect the people as a force independent from the government of the day. it would make better sense, and the people would be able to judge better! the priorities for their own areas. |

How dare you say that the police are failing the people, when in fact their hands are so tied they are unable to look at someone the wrong way, before they are reported. Parents now back their children when they do something wrong, and the children know this. It used to be if you got a clip round the ear from a bobby then you got another one from your dad for getting into trouble in the first place. I am all in favour of human rights but 'rights for the wronged' As for their salary (as mentioned) it is no way near £34000 for the bobby that's out on the beat in all weathers. It is not a job for life, because one night they could be shot, knifed, or any manner of attack. So for all you people who do not like or trust the police, next time your attacked, robbed, or need help in any way, don't call the police they are to busy - call a yob!! |

The police are a law unto themselves, there is no one to control what they do and if they do break the rules they close ranks and protect their own, this has been going on for years. How would we organise a vote to ensure the corruption and bad policing ceases ? most of the country are good at moaning about what they feel is wrong with the force, but are too lazy to do anything about it.When a complaint is made to the IPCC it is mostly always covered up you just have to look at the statistics on complaints unsubstantiated on their website, they DON'T investigate complaints, they just ensure that the police have followed correct procedure. |

problem is things like government targets PC boses . Its about making the government look good. we need to bring back neighbourhood police patrols, police officers living in the area they police. Growing up with the people they police. Not face less officers in cars who look the other way. |

They do have to fill in lots of forms, for incidents, and all manner of other things; so it has become target driven. I work with the police in my job, where they may have to deal with thefts, drugs, alleged or real assaults, and missing persons. A policeman's job is not what I would like to do. |
|

What the Heck
 |
Because they are target driven. It is easier to prosecute a law abiding citizen because he/she would tend to accept the fine and punishment.
Also, more people are not willing to help Police. If I see a car accident, I always drive on.
Cancer Labour have provided laws where thugs end up with the rights. You can't carry a bat or knife but when a thug jumps out and stabs you, you would get done for hitting him and his details can't be released because it would infringe his human rights. |

Why do you say the police are overpaid ? £32000 a year
You get more than that being 1 of 15 duty managers working in 1 tesco store, or working for the local council sitting at a desk, having meetings about meetings about meetings and fobbing everyone off
Or how about Social services, who get paid around £40000 a year and help no one
The only people against the Police are people in the wrong with a gripe
If that shooter had not fired a shot and 600 people were blown up, you would soon be shouting and screaming for the copper to be jailed etc
Get off your high horse and contribute to something in life, change someones life, perhaps get a job where you life WAS threatened everyday and see how you feel on £32000 a year
Why not be a teacher on £40000 a year and work for 6 hrs a day, copy your lesson plans off the internet and get 17 weeks holiday with weekends off, no nights shifts, no working holidays and xmas
Yeah the Police are overpaid !!! No wonder this country is going down the pan!!! |

The police are a bunch of lazy, over paid and over fed bureaucrats. I used to be on a police support committee and the stats they produced were so absurd the chief super refused to meet with us and sent along a broken down old constable who used to apologise. I was having my licence taken away by some harridan sitting as clerk to the magistrates (she seemed to be running things), and the other cases were all speeding like mine, or television licences, or poll tax cases. No crimes! I had a kid threatening me over the phone at my business, went along to the police station to report it and nearly got arrested myself when I questioned the somnolent PC's right to say it was not important enough to consider. They really are not interested in doing the job, their work is not transparent, and they have been taken over by the dolly bird brigade. God help us when they all hit menopause.
Oh, and of course, they arrest respectable businessmen for smacking their runaway toddlers. Four of them. And 20 of them were engaged in raiding the local knocking shop.
Damn, times must be hard now that they no longer get bonuses for beating up trade unionists. |

eh no.
they are totally held to account on EVERYTHING they do from approaching people to recording crime.there are so many checks and restraints on police powers it is pointless them even turning up for the job in the first place.
if your looking to point the finger, Labour and their soft, PC, nanny state crap has criplled us to the point that 11 year old kids have more access and human rights to carry a gun than law enforcement officers |

No need to blame the police force, the only blame is the government for banning corporal punishment therefore youngster go around lacking any respect for their peers and elders. Knife crime and violence is the outset of this. Gangsters and any criminal should be sent to the army to learn respect and fight on the front line. Lets see whose tough then. |

The only people to blame are the government and the CPS, or Criminal Protection Service as they are commonly known. They are letting the public down and the Police are working with their hands tied behind their backs. Most, but not all are decent guys trying to help people. I don't think you could have a public vote, but maybe a referendum, but of course this government doesn't allow referendums like most civilised countries. |

Why shift control? The police do a good job. Granted there are mistakes, but the government that should back them up along with the courts let them down.
Getting the public to vote on something such as this is like asking school kids who should be head teacher. |

Funny everyone (fickle that everyone) I talk to does not have a bad word to say about the police.
They appreciate they are undermanned and underpaid. The government didn't even honour the full pay agreement this year , because the Police like our armed forces are not allowed to take industrial action. We should demand a vote of thanks from the public to the Police for their efforts on the job, whilst having one hand tied by politicians who demand increasing levels of paperwork and target-meeting, and the other used to fend off single-interest pressure groups. I know who I will call if I hear a noise in the night or someone in my family gets attacked, and it won't be some privately employed security guard as you would appear to favour. |

I think the police do a great job. They could do a lot better if they didn't have to complete so much paperwork and if the courts were allowed to hand down proper sentences. They do a thankless and dangerous job and they deserve our full support and admiration. |
