accused wrongly and a victim of social inequities.

It is sad as the 4th officer just died. Please remember the families of these officers who lost their lives on a normal routine traffic stop.

We see the monster he is today, a felon that shot and killed police officers in the performance of their duties. I agree with you, in my eyes he is also a monster.
BUT
When we see statements from family and friends of the perpetrator of a horrific crime like this ... we wonder if they are talking about the same guy we are.
They remember Lovelle as he was growing up ... the good times and bad of his youth. The fact that he grew up to be a felon that gunned down officers clashes so badly with their memory of his youth that they can't cope with the current reality.
Look back at other horrible crimes and criminals ... you will see a pattern. Son of Sam, Gacy, the Columbine killers, McVeigh, the Unibomber, etc ... in every case there was someone that went on record with the statement "he was such a nice guy ... I just can not believe he would do this!"
Sure, given the crimes he committed people like us consider him to be a monster ... but you will never convince his family that he is a monster. Call it deluded, call it "living in the past", or just call it "being human. |
