Why is there so few Female Dogs used in Police K9 Protection work...All I ever see is the Male Dogs?

As a K-9 handler I've seen many a female canine used which are just as good as the male canine!

Of course, I can see the breeder keeping the females more often for production of more litters for economic reasons.

My own kennel master/trainer does work her female dogs...but because of the stress of the police work....not while breeding!

I don't buy the "females aren't aggressive" thing. We have a female police dog, and she is probably the most aggressive.

They won't breed female police dogs (they are usually spade). Police dogs are expensive to train and maintian and need to be available at any time. My police service is relatively small so we can't afford to have a dog "out of commission" because of pregnancy.

The female un -spayed dog can be in estrus and that can cause confusion . Female dogs have just as much stamina as males and often more bulk and size.Equal intelligence too.
Females are the most aggressive in the human chain. they are the most vicious and commit extremely heinous crimes....Seen it far too often for it too not be fact

I have worked with animals before and I can assure you that if they are using mostly male dogs then there is a financial reason behind it. Either they do the job better, they cost less over their useful lifetime, or something like that. It is not an ERA issue. When people are using animals this way, they want the most bang for the buck. It's true of any animal use including food animals, sport animals, and any others where money is a consideration.

male dogs are more agressive and will track scent better femal dogs tend to just want to protect there own pack male dogs will rush in to a situation without giving it much thought were as a female will evaluate the dangers involved

Males are usually larger, stronger and more aggressive, though only dangerous to the perpetrator.

if you have noticed that the police force doesnt have very many females on it anyways. but i think the men think its a manly job and strong women cant handle a "man". so i would say samething with a dog.....but then why is a female dog called a bytch?
