1) It is easier to incarcerrate someone than it is to treat them (not necessarily cheaper, but easier)
2) As stated before, there is currently no sure fire treatment for pedophilia. Most child molesters were molested as kids, so the old saying "an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure", applies here. Keeping these people from perpetuating the cycle of abuse is more effective than treating them, labeling them "cured" and putting them back onto the street, only to find out too late, that you're wrong.
3) There's better security at prisons than there is at a hospital. |

they do get counseling..in prison. This question is crazy. If I murder three random people I probably am missing acouple of screws. I would belong in prison, not a hospital. Molesting children is a crime, not a disease. So many people are claiming to have mental disorders in order to forfeit responsibility and become a victim. |

pedophilia may or might be a disease. it is really not important. what is important is that they acted on those urges and committed a crime. that is why they go to jail. |

They should be executed. This is an irredeemable act! I don't want my tax dollar's going to someone who destroys innocent life's. We shouldn't have too worry about are children, they get off way to easy. I say kill em'. |

It is not an illness it is a choice. They should be castrated and kept in isolation until they die. The alternative should be the death penalty. The real problem is that they get free on parole or they serve ridiculously small sentences and go out to do more damage to innocent people. |

Has anyone come up with a treatment for "pedophilia" that is 100% effective? 90% effective? 75 % effective? Do I hear 50%? 25%?
Would you want that treatment facility next door to your house? Your child's school? How about in the same building as your child's day care center?
Where should we put the facilities to attempt to "treat" this "illness"? If they commit a crime against my grandchildren ... they will dang sure be "cured" of their "illness" ... and also cured of their addiction to Oxygen!
Going to jail keeps these criminals from their preferred victims. They might be ready to rejoin society after the age of, let's say 60! By the time they hit that age most of their preferred victims can easily outrun them! |

As stated previously it's easier on everyone involved to just lock them up. Not having been to prison myself I cant say what "help" inmates recieve in there. But with such high return rates an average person would assume something is flawed. But lets just keep flooding the prisons so we have to build more which means taxes go up. The inmates serve their time are released and return soon after. A much better system indeed. |

Pedophilia is a fairly new concept to mankind.
Only recently did various cultures begin to punish people for something that's been going on since human beings came to be.
This is not a habit like nail biting or putting your elbows on the table that is easily broken. It's a behavior that's manifested within someones instincts & the outcome determined by ones nature.
This is something wild that we'll have to rid of by domesticating ourselves (even further than we have already).
The evolution of human species will be the only way we can notice if this domesticating successfully removed these tendancies from us. |

Because just like drug addicts and alcoholics the treatment centers and hospital stays only work when they admit they have a problem.. So i think they should seek counseling before they act out!! Imagine your little girl or boy molested by a predator..... |

You guys are all idiots. There's a HUGE difference between pedophilia and being "perverted". Every man is perverted idiots. Who ever says he isn't is a liar. Second thing, pedophilia isn't wrong unless the subject in matter touched someone. Everybody, every guy, likes little girls. No exception. The difference is, we don't touch them. Pedophiliac rapists should go to jail, they raped something. They deserve to be raped. There is no such thing as pedophilia persè. The only crime done is rape, and rape means going to jail.
