I always wonder whats the difference between a taser and a stun gun. turn out taser attack your nerve and muscle, stun gun only attack nerve. but how is taser so much more powerful with just normally 40-60k volts while stun gun can reach 2.7million volts? And what's the law for obtaining a taser?(i am in Pennsylvania)

The Taser is more effective than a stun gun because a stun gun is only a pain compliance weapon. It focuses on a localized area. It does not make a complete electrical circuit.
The Taser can be used as a stun gun, or it can be used as intended. Tasers fire two probes and an electrical current is sent through them, if you remember grade 10 science, electricty always wants to make a circuit. The current goes between the two probes, travelling through a persons nervous system. This interferes with the normal electric impulse that the nerves uses, causing the muscles to contract. The body cannot defend against this. The wider the spread of the probes, the more muscles are affected. Tasers not only use pain compliance, but incapacitation.
It has nothing to do with the voltage. It is amperes that are dangerous, not volts. 50,000 volts from a Taser sounds impressive, but it has little bearing on how effective it is.
