You have witnesses to what happened so no, I don't believe you could possibly be charged with anything. You asked him to leave and he wouldn't and then he started getting violent, i would have done the same thing. |

well you can because you used a beer bottle as a weapond and if he presses charges against you thats what he can use as his arguement cause he wasnt attacking you and you didnt use it for self defense you used it to calm him down which you did but not in a safe way |

If you get hurt will committing a crime, you generally CANNOT be held criminally liable for hurting the perpetrator. However, he can sue you in civil court, and civil court is a crapshoot. It could very well go in his favor. Sorry, I know you didn't want to hear this, but that is how crazy the law is. |

Depends on your state. In some states, they might view the use of the beer bottle as "excessive force," or use of the bottle as a "weapon."
Even in a case where you're 100% in the right, you could get charged with a crime... which you will have to bear the cost to defend (right or wrong).
How long he has depends on the statutes in your state. |

Its okay to defend yourself or friend...get all your friends to write down what happened,so they don't forget. Get your ducks in a row and you will be fine. |

I think you could get charged for assault because you did use a bottle to hit him with and you said he shoved your friend, not you. He didn't hit anyone nor use a "weapon" even though it was in your apartment. If you wanted him out and he didn't leave, the judge would ask you why you didn't call the cops to remove him. |

Usually an assault charge of any consequence is filed directly from the ER during the time of treatment. Don't hit people with beer bottles. It's hard to recycle if it's broken and it's a terrible waste of beer. |

If this guy is such a weiner that he is going to start crap at your house and then press charges.....geez...I bet he dont do it...he would get too harassed by the other guys.
If he does however just say that you were in fear of your life and that should pretty much clear up the situation. |

I'm not sure. I would hope not but they might try to get you for hitting him in the head with a bottle b/c they'll say that you could've called the police or done something different. I think it'll come down to what you tried to do before hitting him. If it went like (1.) you asked him to leave, (2.) he refused and started shoving your friend, (3.) you hit him in the head, then you might have a problem. But I'm not sure. Good luck though. |
