im 17 and therefore not old enough to sign a lawfull contract if im correct?
basically when i joined the gym i didnt realise i was signing a 6 month contract 3 months down the line i am skint and cant afford the payment anymore, went to cancel they said im cant minimum 6 month contract.
If i just dont pay and cancel the direct debit will they be able to take further action?
Also JJB has just been bought out by another company so could i not argue i signed a contract with JJB Fitness which is Now BW Fitness or something or other so thatr contract technically doesnt exist?
Additional Details
is that true even if my mom and dad didnt sign anything as well?

If you're under 18, you can't sign a contract. That being said, they can still put stuff on your credit report that can affect you for sometime, and can't be easily taken off, so if its not too much money, you might want to pay it to avoid a headache, even if you aren't legally obligated to.
And, they can't sue your parents. The only person at fault here is the gym for accepting a contract from someone that wasn't 18. If its a lot of money, they will probably talk tough, because someone screwed up and doesn't want to get caught by their boss. |
