Will a summons after an arrest show up in a criminal background check for work?

I am not totally sure that is true. Depends on why you are being summoned for an arrest. If it is a civil complaint or something those can sometimes show on background checks.. .depending on how in-depth the check is. I have spent the last 3 months researching public record search sites for an online consumer review company (www.CompleteReviews.net) and I know for certain that court records are searchable so if there is a court action against you it can be found.

But I am totally guessing as to what your summons is about...

One thing you could do if you are really concerned is to run a background check on yourself. Of course that will cost you a bit of money but there are several online services that are reasonably priced. If you need to find a solid service, any of the ones listed at http://www.completereviews.net/backgroundchecks.html have passed our testing requirements (I tested them personally) so you can know for certain that they are not scams.

The arrest will show up on a background. If there is a warrant out for you, that will also show up. A summons-probably not.
If your applying for a job that requires a BI, you would be a lot better off answering the summons before it turns into a warrant for failure to appear or something similar. You really did not supply enough info to give a very comprehensive answer.
