Will he get locked up?
Find answers to your legal question.

Will he get locked up?

My friend was arrested with possession of marijuana and public intoxication. They put him in a little white room ( he just texted me and told me all this, he's in there right now.) He called his mom and she was on her way. He isn't responding to my texts so i guess the police are talking to him. what is gonna happen? He is only 15 or 16
Additional Details
Well he texted me after half an hour of being in there and his mom on the way...but then he stopped so im guessing the police game...and i dont think he's lying.

You shouldn't be friends with people who posses marijuana. Make better choices.

He's going to get booked, but they'll let his parents bail him out. But his punishment depends on a lot, like is it his first offense, how much weed did he have, was he trying to sell, etc....

Probably probation, community service, and some sort of rehab program.

They likely took his phone away for now. He will get it back when he is released.

They will prob keep him in JDC over the weekend.

tkquestion
Once he is sober and his parents come pick him up, he will be released to the custody of his parents. He will then, have to appear in court at later date to face his charges.

Then a judge will decide his punishment.

something is wrong with this picture. If your friend was placed under arrest, the first thing that would have been done was for him to surrender EVERYTHING that he had in his pockets. He would not be allowed to have his cell phone at this time.
Im guessing your friend is playing a game with you

andrew
no he will not get locked up. just a fine with a court date. since hes a minor, it will get expunged when he turnes 18

Bethenny
He is a minor, he will be released to his mother. If he is charged, he will just get probation, fines and/or community service.

Thumbs up 4 me pleez!!

For one, if he is in custody, he is NOT going to have a cell phone! So, I do not believe he is texting you nor do I believe he is in a 'white room'!

No, he will not get jail time. However, he will probably get house arrest for awhile and then probation. Or just probation.

He will most likely be locked up for awhile and serve his time for however long the court decides.
