The way I see it you could be charged with the following:
No licence
No insurance
No registration (i assume)
Leaving the scene of an accident (you moved the car)

If you don't come out of posket for the damages, expect the above charges.

His insurance will cover it, but then they will pursue legal actions against you to get their money back.

As far as jail it depends on your local laws.

No u wont get taken to hail for ****. But u would get your license suspended for a while if u don't pay so try your hardest to pay

if you don't pay him for the damages and he does decide to call the police you could be charged for a hit and run. driving without a license. you license can either a:be suspended fo x amount of time or taken away. and depending on if you have any prior driving violations you could be put in jail.

no, not jail. a fine and an extended drivers suspension, yes, how long is determined by which state you are in. and how good of a lawyer you have.

don't worry, he can't black mail you for that... but if you can afford to pay for the damages, depending on how bad it is, you can shop around a scrap yard for parts, always good stuff there, and auto zone sells paint touch ups for a decent price.

try that and hope he agrees to it, if its just a bumper scrape and he wants a new bumper, then you can ask the owner of the scrap yard if he has the make, model and year of the same car, and if luck would have it, the color... good luck and happy hunting

almost all insured drivers have coverage for accidents involving uninsured drivers in the other party. you'll probably get reported. don't worry. things will work out. in a year you'll be glad you dealt with this the honest way. you most likely will not go to jail, but be given a court hearing and sentenced to community service...which is not a bad trade off for how much it would cost to fix up a car. good luck kid. been where you are. just be honest and sorry and sincere all the time with this stuff. it's embarrassing and humiliating, i know. we all go through this kind of stuff when we're young.

no you cannot go to jail cause it wouldnt be a hit an run because you talked to the guy about it, the worse thing he can do is take you to small claims court, if i were you just go get insurance on your car then say a couple weeks later you hit his car and have the insurance repair his car

No. You will not be carted away in jail for this infraction. You hit a parked car therefore there is no criminal felony unless you paid the owner of the car in full amount he or she demands otherwise if the owner called the police for hit and run incident you are most likely the person the police will arrest. Besides he is your neighbor obviously he knows you very very well isn't it. Where you live, what you do in life etc....and he said will informed the police if you will not go through with the payment. That is already a warning for you. Isn't this clear enough for you yet?

I do not think he will informed the insurance for the damages since he already spoken that you pay for the damages you created in the first place. He will refuse to informed the insurance for this, he might after you paid him but this is double compensation. So in order for him not to be paid in double, you have to file a police report after you settle the case or the amount to him in order that the owner wouldn't be so greedy and get two payment in one deal. Reporting stating you have agreed to settle the amount then the police will file this for references in their office so that they can informed the insurance company if any claim is imposed by the owner for the said car.
