Will the London police get away with yet another killing?

How can you compare these two incidents? The first involved officers who thought they were tackling a suicide bomber and that their lives were in danger! The second I agree the police look well out of order and if guilty then the policeman involved should swing!

However I think you have chosen a poor choice of comparison.

The man's death has not been linked to any action, a heart attack is a time bomb waiting to go off, he could have died at any time. Maybe the excitement of being there was also to blame.
Another question is why he was there, hands in pockets, purposefully walking slowly in front of the police, that needs to be asked. Maybe he was trying to provoke something or he'd have moved on quickly. What was he doing immediately before the filming started, why was he being filmed? Maybe the person filming had seen him provoke the police and we just get to see the final act trying only to film the reaction to an unseen event previously initiated by him?
Please get the full story before accusing anyone of wrongful death.

Seriously people need to cut the police some slack , the guy walked past a riot? with his hands in his pocket , what if he had a gun , its up to the police to make assumptions to protect the public.

If you ask me , which you have , its his own fault who the hell walks into a protest as violent as that with his hands in his pocket? Im not saying he was purposely trying to start anything , but the guy was clearly a idiot. I generally do not the believe the police meant to harm him let alone kill him.

Its all a load of crap to be perfectly honest. I do not for one second blame the police , they did a fantastic job on the day of the riots and stopped what could been something pretty horrific from happening.

Are we not jumping the gun a bit. it was not a sunday school party there and the man was pushed he had his heart attack later and the chances are he would have had one anyway. Maybe the police were or maybe were not heavy handed. but murder? Come off it

How often have you criticised criminals for their killings, perhaps you prefer your one sided approach.
I believe that I read that the man who died was living in a bail hostel, does that mean he was known to the police.
Also we don't know the full story yet, he may have been making offencive remarks to the police as he slouched away with his hands in his pockets, he must of known there were several policemen near him. Further, medical tests may reveal that his heart attack was not related to his fall.

the result of the police action was a death. since when does a non violent 'provocation' warrant the death penalty? police have too much power, but I don't think they will for long. yes they got away with it, for now.

It tells us that the tactics used to police protests are aggressive violent and a danger to the public that they're supposed to protect.

It amazes me that people are defending the police and trying to claim that he shouldn't have been there. He was walking way, back to the police, hands in pocket and not showing any signs of aggression. The officer then comes up behind him, strikes him on the upper leg with his baton and then pushes Mr Tomlinson to the ground. He then remonstrates with the police, but they don't help him up, or attempt to arrest him.

If it was your dad, brother, husband would you accept that there was no link to his death within minutes of this attack? If it was a burglar breaking into his home and hitting him like that the Daily Heil brigade would be screaming for justice.

There is no Justice there is just the police!

your acting like they all carry guns. ive never seen a UK cop that carried a gun and it probably will be a clean shooting if he told the guy that he was an armed officer and he knew that there was going to be bodely hard to him or others. i dont know the whole story and you arent really giving us much info. probably because you want him to look guilty.

Down Rover! What an over reaction.People don,t die of a heart attack by being pushed.The police have a difficult job to do and being blasted for every little thing and having it blown up out of proportion doesn,t help.Maybe you have personal issues with the police,I think they have a thankless job to cope with and could do with a bit more support from the public.

Of course they will, because of people like the one who has answered already. If I beat a middle aged man to the ground whilst he was walking away from me with his hands in his pockets there'd be an uproar about the 'youth of today', but the police are 'protecting the community'... I'm not sure from what exactly.

Even if the man was considered a threat, I'm sure the police are better trained than to push someone over the like that. It was police brutality, and nothing else. I'd like to see how they justify it, and I'm sure the policeman thug who did it will be let off on a technicality.

As a young person who doesn't approve of the powers that be, and agrees that capitalism is to blame for the country's major problems, it's things like this that will make people like me think maybe I should be walking around protests in a balaclava with a pipe in my hand.

It's like who watches the watchmen? We've all watched the police effectively beat a man to death, but what can we do? Play good little sheeple and pretend it's for the greater good. It's a disgrace.

Yeah they probably will as usual the police have gotten out of hand there always going over the power and hurting innocent people, there is no excuse, they just ram into anyone, there worse than the protesters it's pathetic, there is absolutely no excuse unless the lot of them are blind?

Why ask , bored to death with stringing out the media hype and controlled at that , You'll be placed on a list of non cooperative subversives for asking , and it'll come to light he was running off and there was no need to run off and anybody who is innocent has nothing to fear , the majority of people support the Police , Police not to BLAME for mans illness , Innocent not Legal , He ran , Man ILL , Community Police knew man , Community Police didn't know Man , etc. etc. The Public forget .

do you reckon the police would close ranks around me to protect me or do you think i would be arrested and charged with manslaughter?
i reckon i'd be in the sh1t but then i am not a copper.
its blatantly criminal behaviour but the police can do what they want with the defence and back up of the rest of them.
it makes me puke.
