Will the Police take disciplinary action against the two Officers who abused their dogs?
|
As these two Officers pleaded guilty in Court and have been banned from keeping animals, is this a reason for their Force to take action against them and if so what action.

This is relatively easy. If a serving police officer is found guilty in a criminal court (ie Magistrates or Crown), they MUST appear in front of a disciplinary board. The board has 3 options - dismissal, requirement to resign o a reprimand. They cannot impose any financial penalty as the officer has already been punished by the court and it would be seen as double jeopardy. So the answer is yes. |

Joan K You Know the police procedure better than me but there are some police still in their line of work having done similar or worse actions I think they work on a points system three shots and your out they will get suspended on full pay and reinstated in the traffic division |

Tough one Joan.....
I don't think so, my reason is this. The police are currently changing the way complaints and disciplines are dealt with. These officers(who were at home), have been dealt with via civil courts. The crime does not involve any dishonesty offences which the police will fire officers for. There would be no suitable punishment within their job to administer. I have animals and am totally against animal cruelty, but I think in this case, no good will come from pursuing this any further.
I imagine everyone where they live knows what they have done and there lives are miserable as a result(rightly so). |

Yes. They could be dismissed or lose rank. |

If what you say is accurate then yes, they would likely face discipline. However you did not say if this is a fact or just a general question. . |

Honestly, it depends on how strong their union is. I would think they would get time on the beach (unpaid leave). |
