Will this stay on my record forever?

Basics:
I'm 16 and I live in Florida. I'm a good kid who doesn't drink, smoke, do drugs, steal, or anything like that. I have big plans for my future and I'm not a trouble maker at all.
Something stupid happened earlier this week and now I have a court date in a month for a misdemeanor of domestic violence against my dad (full story below). My dad and I both want this to be dropped and the cop said that most likely it will be and that nothing will be shown on my record..
I've heard that it's still going to show on my record and it's going to affect me getting a job, getting scholarships, and getting accepted into college.. is this true?

Full Story:
Earlier this week, my dad and I got into a huge argument over something stupid and it escalated. He kicked a dent into my car, I lightly slapped him on the shoulder for it, then he smacked the crap out of my face. I left his house, went to my mom's, and called the cops on the way.. Even though he hit me as hard as he physically could and I barely touched him, I still touched him, so I was taken to JDC for an hour until my mom picked me up and now I have a court date in a month.. It's a misdemeanor.

My dad refused to sign any papers, he begged the cops to arrest him and not me, and he doesn't want to press any charges or anything. I just want this whole entire thing to be dropped. The deputy that arrested me said most likely since both of us want this case dropped, the judge is just going to dismiss it and it's all over with. Worst case senario, I have probation for a year, which I will have a curfew and have to check in with a probation officer for random drug tests (even though I've never touched drugs a day in my life).

It depends and I am sure that is not what you want to hear. Some states will seal the record and others won't. Let me suggest that when you are about to turn 18, you ask an attorney in your state about this and see what he says. If it is going to remain there, then you need to hire an attorney and get him to do an expungment order and get that thrown off your record for good............ Good luck to you.........

The answers in here are peoples opinions, it is your life. Ask an attorney in your state.

Well you will get people who will tell you it goes away automatically when you turn 18 but that is completely false (2 idiots so far who've made this claim - the idiot claiming it's not public information is WRONG). You have to set that up with a lawyer which I suggest you do, because it will be on your record forever. It doesn't seem to be something that would hurt you later on down the road jobwise with background checks, but it wouldn't hurt to go through the process of having your record sealed.

If you're not convicted, it won't be on your public record however it will still show up on police searches, for example, if they pull you over for something later on and do a search on you - but it's not really something that will "hurt" you.

Juvenile law works differently than adult law. Your record should be clean at 18

motomadmann
it will be on your juvy record. which is sealed when you become a legal adult

let me refrain my answer. if you are convicted as something as a MINOR, or juviniel, no one can use that to incrimanate you when you turn a legal adult. because it is not public information,
