Women in Law Enforcement? ?

In my town we have 1 woman police officer and i know of 1 state woman police officer and thats it.

Currently there is only one female officer in my small rural county. She currently is a Town Marshall and was a former Deputy Sheriff. Personally I don't care for her. An incident some years ago, while she was a Deputy Sheriff, happened when responding to a noise complaint she fired her sidearm while among a group of juveniles. At that point I think she should have lost her badge! She is not the last officer in the county I'd like backing me up but she comes in second.

On the state level we have a Conservation Officer working this district, but not this county I regard as one of the best officers (and the best female officer) I've known.

I am in LE and in in this county there are a few. The county has 2 female road deputies and between the two local agencies there are three female police officers, two of them being detectives. In the jail, where I am we have five females out of 26 officers. I don't see any of us being treated any different because we are women, the difference comes in how we treat everyone else. We have several female deputies in the jail that are VERY badge heavy and the inmates and some of the co-workers treat them like they are treated, with disrespect.

I am excited about the number of women in law enforcement and it continues to grow. They can be just as effective, if not more so than a man in certain situations and there is definitely a place for us. I have found that because it is a male-dominated field sometimes women have to work twice as hard to be considered half as good as their male counterparts but I wouldn't trade the career for anything.

I'm good friends with a couple; the wife is a retired patrol officer who mainly worked DUI. She is a real people lover and the daughter of a state trooper so it's in her blood. She also speaks American Sign Language and saved a boy's life one night when another cop said on the radio "He's won't answer my questions and keeps moving his hands all over the place." She turned on her lights and rushed to the location to communicate with the boy. Simple traffic stop that could have turned ugly.

My town has a few female officers on the streets and they are all professionals.

We have 1 Detective Sgt., 1 Detective, and 3 road officers that are female. I feel just fine about them. They are really good to have around when dealing with female suspects and doing searches and relating to them.

You haven't been in the Los Angeles Jailhouse. You will see a lot more women who are deputies. We still haven't met the mininium requirement: 20%.

I am the only female in my department also. There is one other female who works within the same county but it is for another PD. We really don't ever work with eachother. I can't say I know her that well.

As wrong as it sounds, I don't respect female police officers because females are not a dominant species in my opinion.

I've been pulled over once by a female cop and I kinda laughed the whole time.
