I shouldn't think so, after all there are lots of illegal immigrants working in government security positions, F.C.O, M.O.D, Houses of parliament etc. |

Depending on the seriousness of the crime. If you went served time in jail for it, you probably won't get the job. |

Some jobs require full CRB disclosure. Given the country's state of alert, I would be surprised if airport security wasn't one of them.

It depends what type of airport security you wish to go into it. If it was say, custom & exiles, you may be held back, but if you wish to work in a department store as a security guard, then no.
Since it is a misdemeanor, I think even Customs won't mind. Check with them. |

it depends what kind of crime

I think that you can apply to have a petty crime so many years ago can be expunged from your record. In Canada, you can get the forms from a police station or courthouse, and it will have the address where you need to send the application. I understand that there is an actual court hearing for more serious offenses. |

If you were a juvenile, no. If you were an adult and served time, yes.
And whatever you do, don't lie on the job application. |

Yes, something you did 22 years ago could stop you from getting certain jobs. Hopefully it won't but that doesn't change the fact that it can |

idk, but the worst thing you cd do would be to lie about it. They check EVERYTHING now. I'd be up front, say what happened, then report on your good record ever since. That's better than being charged with a federal crime for lying to the dept. responsible for controlling terrorism.
good luck! |

I wouldn't think something 22 years ago would be a problem if it was a minor offence and you didnt do proper jail time. But whatever you do don't lie on the form as it will look worse when they check up your police record etc.
They will most likely ask you to provide your police record, this takes around 4 weeks to arrive and then you submit it. |

Depends on the crime. Anti social behaviour when out on the p*ss maybe, but theft or shoplifting etc then theres most likely no chance you will get the job. |

It could. My company recently let go several employees who had 15 years plus service. Why? We sometimes have to work in schools requiring us to have a special vendor permit. The schools won't issue the permit if you have any kind of record. Zero tolerence. A friend of mine was let go because 20 years ago, he got caught with a joint.
This may not be the same as your case, but just be ready for it. |

Depends on what u did. If it doesnt relate to the job that u want then chances are it wont affect you that much. Also since it was 22 years ago u can say it was a rebellious phase that you were going through and that u have atoned for ur actions. If the people ask you about it then u dont want to try and hide it or lie about it. You want to come across as mature and responsible. Take responsibility for what you did and tell them what actions u have taken since then to prevent that from happening again and what you have learned from the experience. Everyone would prolly be able to unerstand that young people can do pretty stupid things. so just be mature about it. |

It depends on the crime, but if it was a serious felony, or a domestic violence against your spouse or parents, then you are probably out of luck. |

Well you shouldn't be an arrogant ****. Do the crimes and you are a mug. Happy days now |
