In England, it wil do some good. You can present it, with a guilty plea, as mitigation - evidence of your desire to correct your ways. The Bench will take note of your Guilty plea and of your evidenced desire to reform; your solicitor will make great advantage of your attitude. Provided you don't have a huge raft of previous convictions, and that you did not injure or kill someone when driving over the limit, you could well get a more lenient sentence. |

Only if you are serious about quitting. Don't do it as a "show", if you know what I mean. "Look at me, see I even went to AA, Judge." |

dont be a fool, your just trying to kid yourself, in the UK expect a one year ban, minimum, and fine. dont try the old bollocks on, they have heard it all before. |

Might as well He probably gonna make you go to meetings anyway.
I been to thousands of AA meetings.
Just don't BS the judge by carrying AA book into court with you.
He will see right through it. |

It wont stop you getting banned, the judge has a duty to take you off the road for other road users benefit, the period probably will depend on any previous convictions and blood alcohol limit.
Getting help with your addiction is a great idea and one you will never regret.
Good luck! |

If your case is after lunch..you could nip to the local pub/bar and buy the prosecution and the judge a round of drinks, but buy yourself an orange juice, not from concentrates though, freshly squeezed..now that would really impress the court. |

No, when you go to court it's best waiting until then and trying to plea bargain with the judge. |

Worth a try - its painless. Which AA are you referring to? |

Only if its for a first offence and then you need to get REALLY Lucky with the judge. |

Are you serious? if your going to court for a drink driving offence
then it serves you right, AA is for people who really need the support of others to fight their battle of the bottle, not for people to try and impress a judge and get a lesser penalty.
Drink drivers are a bloody danger to innocent bystanders and deserve to be punished. |

yeh!!! it does help, i once knew someone who nearly killed somebody, and didnt know till he woke up in the cells, he went to court, full of remorse, said he was going to AA and the judge gave him a lighter sentance, But it all depends on how much you mean what you say, and how much damage you done, i suppose. |

Not really Judge will probably think you doing to aim for lighter sentence but do it anyway for yourself, at the end of the day your punishment will depend on Judge and evidence against you let's not forget Judges deal with stuff like this every day all going to depend more on your remorse i should imagine :) |

no cause the courts going to MAKE you do that anyway. At least they do here in Virginia.....I know from personal experience |
|

rachel_ksr

Well it probably depends. Are you sincere in your attempts to get help? Or are you just trying to get off easy so that you can go out and drink again?
Realize you could have killed someone. How would you like to lose someone you love because of someones carelessness? |
