Would this hinder me from getting onto my local Police Force?

I basically want to make sure i wont be wasting my time because of this- i was in the navy and after i graduated bootcamp and my school i was stationed in san diego. Well, when i arrived there i was not given the job "promised" to me and was told i could get a different one in 2 years, and then when i got a different job i would have to sign up for another 2-4 years with it. I talked with all the officers and they eventually gave me an entry level seperation with a re-entry code of RE-3G (meaning i could get in a different branch). I looked at my DD214 and it shows that i was given an entry level seperation but it also says because of code of conduct and performance (which isnt correct). I am now in the army reserve and have completed my training with the army and am going on my regular drill weekends. My question is, could that DD214 keep me from getting to the police academy? I am in TOP shape, physically and mentally.

Your morals and personal ethics should hinder you from becoming a police officer! YOUR SOUL SHOULD TALL YOU NOT TO DO IT! If you have neither of those things then you should be a perfect candidate for the police and they are waiting for you!

Texas Star
It WILL prohibit you from being considered for a police job.... nearly all agencies have a requirement that any military discharge other than "honorable' will not be considered.

Good Luck

No, it won't hinder you. Be honest during your apps process. You should be fine.

Vagabondious Rex.
to my knowledge; I believe being in the service just gives you points toward the academy test. So, it doesn't matter your performance as long as you didn't get a dishonorable discharge.
When you take the test, you have a "credit" so to speak toward the entry test.
So no, the DD214 will not have an adverse effect on furthering your career in that direction.
