I'm British and I think CCTV is the best. I think that having speakers on them is really good and the next stage should be to implant chips into peoples' skin.

The camera's make no difference to me ... I'm not doing anything that I'd be worried about getting caught doing.
As for implanted chips ... that's a loaded issue. In some ways it could help as people get older and disoriented (such as alzhiemers patients) or with finding unidentified bodies. And from a medical perspective - if you were in an accident to have your health issues be readily available might help avoid errors in your immediate care.
But in someways it's a little too invasive on a personal level. I think to track persons who need to be tracked might help the authorities, but every little inch given leads to more issues.
Like I said when you're honest you rarely have to be concerned it's usually when you've got something to hide that it becomes an issue. |

Ive seen people convinced of crimes thru only video surveilance .....that wasnt that person AT ALL!!! TRUE STORY!!! (happened in UK)

For me, yes and no.

Bad guys don't want to be seen, let alone on tape. If those cameras will prevent crime, or help nail those who commit the crimes, then yes. Also, how many of our cars are damaged by hit/run drivers? If those cameras will also nail those creeps who refuse to be accountable for their mistakes, then yes.
If I am falsely or maliciously accused of wrong doing, and that camera exonerates me, then yes.

I personally don't like the idea of being on camera everywhere I go. Suppose those monitoring the cameras have a bad egg or two among them? Those bad eggs watching know where I am routinely on an every hour and day by day basis. They know who I am, where I live & where I go, and when I go there. I'm sure a lot of us don't want that.
It's a tough call. Will the benefits outweigh the concerns? |

We already have cameras on numerous streets and busy highways. People who aren't aware of them aren't literate enough! But traffic and weather reporters use them all the time. They are government property, though
