One person alone may or may not be able to accomplish much...but then, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. There are many people even in your community who question police tactics and who have even experienced abuse, even torture, by the police in your area. Of course, not all the police are guilty, but most police squads have at least one or more officers who consider themselves judge, jury, and executioner of their own brand of extrajudicial "justice."
The best thing you can do is organize with others. Talk with other people who share you concerns. The links below may help you get a start.
Good luck! |

why is it up to the police to "bring you your rights"? You need to stand up for your rights, you can do it in many ways, if your rights have been violated, take legal action. If your speaking in general, give us a better example so we can give you a better answer. |

Yes and try and get some media coverage
Draw as much attention to your problem
but stay legal |

i think it would work if you have a few people to back you up. if you do it alone you might be out numbered |

No - I wouldn't carry a sign around...actions like that just give you less credibility, make you look like a nut..... I would contact various agencies, starting with city hall, to keep complaining until you find the right person who can help you. As far as not "bringing you your rights"...what exactly are you expecting? The police cannot do the job of a judge, you know. |

it might work, just as long nobody gets hurt |

I dont think I would waste my time with that. You could try to write a letter to your newspaper or tv station or call into a radio station and see if they could do a "call in and complain" section on one of the morning shows. ? Just a few ideas. |

i think that police try to use there authority to be mean to civilians, ive seen it time and time again on tv and i think that should be stopped |

Sure. As long as you don't do anything harmful or illegal, you're allowed to walk around with a sign.
Just be prepared for people who don't agree with you to treat you poorly and give you a hard time. We have a right to our opinions and free speech, but not to expect others to respect those opinions. |

i would! if you get media attention then most likely they will give your case more attention! the police department doesnt want to look bad, so they will take care of more high profile cases first! but remeber that there is tonz of crime happening everyday, so they have alot on there plates! it may take a little longer but im sure that they will take care of you the best they can!!! |

I know how you feel. I've set up my own web site because I think what happened to me was intentional.
Send a letter to the Chief Constable and ask his permission for a peaceful demonstration, he will more than likely give you it. I got permission to hold a poll in Birmingham to see how many people have been beaten when arrested.
If you intend doing the sign or the demonstration get your local paper involved.
Good Luck. |

I guess if you really feel like nobody is listening to you you could give it a shot but honestly I don't think that would do you any good. First of all unless you have like a thousend or more pople with you than you might get noticed by someone, but even than nobody really listens to a bunch of screaming people on the street. At least that is my opinion. When I see them on the news I just lough and change the channel. In best case scenario you would get noticed for a day or so and than everybody would forget anyways.
I guess if you really feel strong about your case try going to the officials that can do something about it. Your local mayer or senator or something like that. I know it is not easy but who said that changing laws or operations or practices is easy in any case.
I hope you will get your problems resolved soon |

I would - where I live in France they do it all the time! Even one man on his own. They usually do something to attract attention - loudspeaker, balloons etc. And they always have information to give out to attract support - sheets explaining their situation with details of how to donate money, or sign a petition etc. It's probably worth contacting your local Police service first to check the rules about protesting - otherwise your protest might end very quickly! |

Depends on how strongly i felt about the issue involved.
Might get you some attention & get your point heard - especially if you tell your local newspaper what you are planning to do. |

it depends what your doing it for, if you beleive in it then do it but dont hurt, threaten, or do anything stupid to anyone or anything, no one likes radical people who try to fix things by destroying things. good luck |

street signs are usually reserved for crazies preaching armageddon.....unless you have a mass protest, write a letter to the right people.... |

I wouldn't. I would use the law. Fire fights fire. Ring the police and tell them there is a bomb on the 217 bus. Say if it goes below 50mph the bus will blow. Then you can rob sweet shops and then sell the sweets to afford a good solicitor who will arrest all the police. Job done. |

No and No, I would not do any of those! |
