ok, before people freak out i want to say i would never do this. i don't know where to even access one. this is completely hypothetical but my friends seem to think that it would kill many people. i disagree. anytime of the day and he said at least 4 people would die. anyone... lol?

How busy is the road? Depending on traffic density and speed you might kill nobody, or hundreds of people!
Busy road, traffic flowing at 55 mph or faster ... throw the grenade. When it explodes the cars within the blast zone will get hit with shrapnel, people inside will probably be injured! Those drivers lose control ... the cars behind them crash into them. The crash could involve a great many vehicles before it's over ... lots of property damage and more than a few deaths and injuries.
Overloaded road, gridlock conditions ... not so much "collateral damage" injuries and property damage localized to the cars in the immediate vicinity of the explosion.
Light traffic, moving at highway speed ... you might involve one or even two vehicles in the explosion ... other vehicles would have time and space to keep from colliding with the vehicles in the blast zone
My answer is ... no deaths to a highway full of dead people depending on conditions.
Good thing this is a hypothetical situation ... the criminal charges resulting from such an act would put the perpetrator in prison for the rest of their life! It could even be considered a "terrorist act!" |

You can't predict how many people would die from something like this. Certainly they would get hurt, but again, it's impossible to say who will or will not die from something. Really, there's so many factors that it's impossible to say. How could you prove something like this (short of doing it)? Even then it would only hold true under that incident. It wouldn't apply to another. |
