"i witnessed an accident. i was the one who called 911.?

i witnessed an accident. i was the one who called 911. the victim got some injury on her lower extremities, but thank God it is not that bad. the driver coordinate with the police.. the police officer got my number for further investigation. but i don't want to be involve. i mean, i am just new here in canada. so, i don't want any hassle to my work. what will happen to me if i will not participate?

please i need an answer.

Why not help preserve justice? It won't take up much of your time. Let's say you needed a witness and the witness chose to not speak up. Do the right thing and participate. You'll feel better about doing the right thing at the end of the day.

Just do what they ask.

do what you want, but what is the big deal?

nothing will happen to you if you just tell them what happened.

paranoid much?

mandy b
well you will get in trouble for not helping, i think they call it obstruction of justice, but hopefully all the insurance companies will take care of it and they wont bother you at all

Chris
just cooperate and your employer will understand.. you would want a witness to help you or your family if it came to that..
and yes they can force you to attend court hearings by sending you a subpeano, and if you fail to show up you can be charged with contempt of court.

gobonzzo
If you do not cooperate they will probably issue an arrest warrant and toss your butt in jail. At that point you won't have to worry about your work because you will probably get fired.

jeez dude, chill out. if you ain't got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to worry about. Do you have something to hide? Do you? DO YOU??

canadiandude
Well you will be questioned because you are a witness to the accident. I would suggest you cooperate with the police otherwise you may very well be charged with obstructing justice or public mischief.

You already did get involved, and thank you! You did the right thing! If it goes to court, which is doubtful. then you will be expected to tell what you saw and that's all. There shouldn't be any hassle at your work, since most bosses understand if you have to spend a few hours in court

Thank You for calling 911. Don't look at this as "Being Bothered", Look at this as an experiance of doing the right thing.
PLUS, you have to cooperate. It might only be a few questions and answers on a statement. That may be as far as it goes.

Think it this way, would you want that person to help you if you were in that situation. Or what if the person that did this kills someone someday.

They won't call. No worries.

Did you ever hear of the charge of "Obstructing a Police Investigation?"
