i have ben thinking abought. all that you have to do to get a pistol, all the training you have to go threw to be able to cary it around. and yet ive heard of alot of people that can just go to the store and buy one cause they think they need it for protecting from intrudes that (may come into there house). why?!?

People in this country are scared. The media constantly portrays this world as a scary place, and Americans want to protect themselves against that.
Canada is the opposite. People there don't even lock their doors. |

For one thing it depends on where you live and there is a difference between keeping a gun in the house and carrying one around with you. I use my bad attitude for protection so I don't have a gun ;) |

At 18 you can buy a AK-47 assault rifle. But, you can't by a pistol til your 21 and have a permit. |

I just want to add that SOME people should invest their money in a dictionary or in better schooling rather than thinking about buying weapons. Just a suggestion on my part. |

Because of the terrible condition the world is in. Shootings everyday...........kids with guns...adults with guns....gangs.......drive by shootings. I think in the next 20-30 years things will get worse.......martial law/lines for food/no gas. Its nice to be ready.

Nice to see that so many folks are busy trying to prove that NO ONE is able to do this...good thing we don't live in the UK! No offense to you guys, but being told that I am not able to own a gun? Anything else you would like to take away from me?
It varies from state to state, but just walking in an making a purchase is a bit of an understatement. |

because they might come charging into your house......have you ever heard of Alex Coble ..............he was a man at home one day and three people came to his house started banging the door down saying that they were going to kill him and his three year old daughter they got in and charged toward him Coble killed two people in self defense ....... he went to court and the jury of 12 dropped all charges actually it was a jury of 14 if you count the extra ones...........yeah im 13 and i know all of that |

Your constitutional right to bear arms for one. All states have laws detailing what a homeowner can and can't do to protect his/her own home. Yes, a lot of training is involved to be able carry that firearm around but most states don't have carry permits. See as a homeowner, someone breaks into your house, you can shoot them without question. Cops are taught the Use of Force which basically is a guide to shoot or not shoot someone that is breaking the law. What a homeowner can do to protect him/herself is much different than a cop. |

I never understand America's gun laws. My father in law has one, he is now statisically more likely to shoot a member of his own family than an intruder. If you want to walk about with a pistol, then you are a worse fool and society has failed. People get drunk, people get irrate, people get spooked, the last thing you want such a person to have is a pistol.

Here's a thought for you: you need a license to buy a gun, but anybody can walk in off the street and buy bullets.
If you own bullets, you can make a zip gun. Out of parts from the hardware store.
