i saw the video where the cop was killed by the vietnam vet and if you havn't seen it it goes like this
the cop pulled the car over the guy got out walked towards the cop walked back to his truck and started pulling out a rifle from the truck it took him a good 30 seconds to pull it out the whole time the cop is telling him to put the gun down told him over and over. well the guy finally got it out aimed at the cop and shot and killed him. would it have been ok for the cop to shoot the guy as the guy was trying to pull the gun out? i mean the cop warned him a million times was he to patient or was he just following procedure?

by the way dont let my avatar fool you. i have the deepest and up most respect for police officers. a lot of what police go through goes unrecognized.

They used that video to help train us in the academy... The cop should have shot him no question, if you watch close the cop takes the first shot because the window shatters behind the guy and if I remember right the second round of the officer strikes the man in the abdomen. The man was later apprehended in the woods hiding if u were curious. |

I haven't seen any video like this but my first reaction is that he was certain that if he shot this guy he would be criticized over and over by morons who are arm chair quarterbacks. |

No warning is necessary when a person pulls a gun on an officer, there is imminent danger and an officer can fire. |

Don't listen to Jay. I hate cops more than the mud they wallow in. I myself have seen the video and would not have criticized the blue boy for shooting the guy. Jay just thinks all cops are innocent and that's not the case. |

Smokey is a code name for a State Trooper in old trucker talk.
It is easy to play armchair quarterback and say this or that, but; the officer froze.
After warning a person to put the weapon down once, that is all that would have been needed, but; again it is unknown what was going through that officers mind, at that time, on that day that got him killed. |

I admire your respect for Police Officers, the particular one you saw in the video was obviously scared or stupid (No dis-respect intended) however he should have shot him and because he did not, it resulted in his death. |
