71 year old mother struck by car?

On a Chicago thursday morning 4/16 my mother who is 71 was legally walking across an intersection @ 630am. A van tried to make a hasty left turn and side swiped her, knocking her down hard onto the pavement. He stopped, police were called , he was ticketed,she went to hospital and was released w/minor cuts and bruises. I dont know what long term effects this will have on her but she will be seeing a family doctor asap.I believe we should sue this man for his reckless driving. My gosh he could have killed her.His license was expired as well so i assume he was arrested. My mom lives on a fixed income ,social security etc. so she cannot afford the hospital visits, meds.

She can sue him for any outstanding medical bills that she has but that is all, she cannot sue him for driving badly or on an expired license. I am sure he will be prosecuted for driving on an expired license, hitting a pedestrian, and other violations you don't have to do it yourself. |

Doesnt medicare cover the dr visits, and if the hospital gave her a clean bill of health, then why keep digging for problems. U can sue for any monies laid out by her, and he should be fined and jailed for driving w/out a lisence, but society today is always looking to sue, be thankful she wasnt killed. |
