A 16yr old wants to fight me... im 20.. am i allowed to defend myself?

Defending yourself or others is allowed. However, in most states, you are required to flee, if you can.

In Texas, you can fight unless you are from a group that has a lower socioeconomic status than the group of the other person.

File a complaint at the police department. Then, do not fight him. If he attacks you, call the police. The complaint will be used against him.

Call her mother. If she insists on fighting. Defend yourself at all cost. Make sure you have witnesses.

Act like an adult. Tell her mom. File a complaint with the cops. Avoid her. Avoid the situation you are in that is encouraging this girl to fight you. If you do fight, and she is hurt, you may be liable since you are the adult in this situation.

You are allowed to defend yourself as long as "it was the only option". I have a minor in Criminal Justice and they teach us that you can only fend off an attack if there was no "flee option" or if there wasn't a "common sense solution (I'll explain). If you could just run away then you could be held liable in court.

I learned this from a CCW training class (Concealed Weapon permit). If someone breaks into your house and you can clearly see that they do NOT have a weapon and they are considerably smaller than you (120 lb girl v. 300 lb man). You are supposed to just subdue them if they attack you. Throw them down and hold them or pin them down - NOT shoot them. (common sense solution).

So if this 16yo is much smaller than you, you should just restrain them if they come attack you.

Do ur best to avoid her. If you can't deter from talking, or making any contact w/ her. If she decides to trash talk you, get some distance from her and deescalate the situation by speaking calmly to her. DON'T try to challenge or insult her in anyway. If all fails, and she looks like she's going to attack, get ready to physically defend yourself, and call the police once you have made ur escape or neutralize the attacker. The amount of force you should use on the attacker depends on size, combat skills, aggression, intent and strength of the attacker. It also depend if the attacker is armed. For example, if they are armed and I have to disarm them I will break their joints if necessary. The cops can't protect you at all times and too often when they do come, one person is injured or dead after being attacked. You MUST take the necessary steps to protect yourself by avoiding a situation and knowing how to properly handle them.

Don't hit her otherwise they'll take you both in and you'll look as bad as her. Let her swing at you, get a good picture of the bruise and go to the police. If you want to avoid a hit then when she comes near you just start screaming like you've seen a ghost, if she hits you then she's real stupid cause you'll have 10s of witnesses.
