I am going to to purchased a license gun for my own safety. If someone off the street pulls out a knife, and is attempting to throw it at me or slash me with it do I have the right as a U.S citizen to shoot him in the head, or do I have to aim for a specific spot targeted on the body because I don't want to be charged with man slaughter ?

You can only shoot him if he is about to kill you. Just pulling out a knife is not a threat, and if you shoot him anywhere you will be charged with murder.
No offense, but based on your question you certainly aren't mature enough to own a gun. Do yourself a favor and take some safety classes, learn about the law, join a gun club and get some practice, and THEN think about buying one for yourself. |

are you really so afraid of being attacked,do you live in a violent neighborhood? what america and the whole world needs is less guns not more.
i am in no position to judge you therefore i wont,i live in a rowdy neighborhood in the uk and i know gun crime isn't as bad in the uk as it is in the states but i don't think i would like to apply for a gun license whether i lived in america,or any hell hole.
i most definitely wouldn't consider shooting someone if they tried to attack me.and anyway in the states you do have the right to carry a gun but you don't have the right to fire it |

well technically i would sat to aim at the arm. because he would still be able 2 run (in pain) i can SURE-LY garantee you wont be arrested. im not 100 % though. |

If you are being attacked, you have the right to shoot to kill for self defense. I wouldn't try to aim for the head, maybe the chest or something, but you can't really think about these things while being attacked. You may not need to fire it, because just seeing the gun may cause your attacker to flee. |
