A person should have the right to protect their property not get murdered by a bunch of yobs?
|
I think its terrible that a bunch of yobs or anyone for that matter feel that they have the right to murder someone because they have been challanged about their behaviour. Is this what our youth are coming to and where are the parents in all this. The woman on TV this morning says 'Well it's just kids being kids' What a crock of ****, I don't think so.

Kids must be given lessons not to be violent by being punished with appropriate penalties under the law so that they will not be threats to others. |

I think people should have a right to defend their property but the legal system in the UK favours criminals and punishes victims. Added to this the police in the UK are more interested in collecting fines from motorists as it is an easier and safer job than going after criminals |

Kids being kids??!! Is she kidding? I was a kid once and the worst thing we ever did was play rat a rat ginger, and I used to feel guilty about that!!!
I always remember one Halloween knocking at someones door asking trick or treat, an old lady answered and almost had a heart attack because our masks scared her, we went back the next day with flowers and a cake to say sorry, that's the way we were brought up.
I am only going back 25 years or so, I don't understand what has changed so much over the last quarter of a century to turn kids into murderers, muggers and rapists. The kids of today are being brought up by kids themselves, they play video games that glorify killing and their parents let get away with murder, literally! There are so many well behaved kids out there too though, but thanks to the bad apples they all get tarred with the same brush.
Treat their crimes as adult crimes and let them go to a men's prison, that should deter them.

a person has got the right to defend them self, their family and their property using reasonable force in the given situation (not shooting a person running away in the back)
Having said that kids behaviour in this country has become appalling and i think were seeing the effect of our governments unthought out legislation Parents and schools are left with no effective way of disciplining children and now theres 5 and 6 year olds that know full well they can behave as they like and get away with it .I`m only in my 20s but i`m shocked by the disrespect i see children giving adults
my sister was a child minder for a while but gave it up because of the ridiculous things classed as abuse .an example is not letting them have a pudding after their dinner if they don`t behave, or dragging a child back if he/she is running into the road . Its even classed as child abuse for a teacher in school to point out to the parent that their child's head is infested .
I doubt if the law about smacking has prevented even 1 case of child abuse all it has gained is to give children the idea that they can do exactly as they please and we are now seeing the consequences. |

that is the trouble now we have so many people who think like that, yobs who murder, especially if people are defending their property, should be hanged. no ifs or buts just a rope.let them see what it feels like to stand next to death.they kill for kicks let them kick at the end of a noose.but do gooders will argue against that won`t they until it happens to them. |

First of all,as a former police officer (commissioned in two states)I must admit that in most cases I think that the public should have the right to protect themselves, home and family. It is not the police who make these laws, but the heads of the Govt.Several years ago the people of the state of Missouri voted in the right to carry law, only to have the Governor veto it.There should, however,be screening and fire arm safety courses made mandatory.Unfortunately some police officers do not want to see the public armed. What some of the anti gun people do not realize,or will not admit is that a gun fired by a kid will kill you the same us one fired by an adult.I always dreaded the thought of killing any one,but more so a kid.I am lucky in that even though I have had to pull my weapon on a few occasions while on duty,I never had to fire it.I did enough killing in my three tours in Vietnam to last me forever.Just remember,A young rattle snake is more dangerous than an adult.A criminal is not going to be concerned about gun laws, and they have the guns! |

The police don't side with the youths at all! That's a load of crp!Round where I am the police never side with the youths, they get blamed for everything and anything even if they haven't done anything wrong!
But.....
I think it's horrible what they did, it's disgusting, they should be locked up for the rest of their lives! That man's daughter has to now live without her dad just because of these kids!I agree with you, where the hell were their parents while their kids were out murdering an innocent person!? |

these kids don't seem to consider that actions have consequences.
i don't think its fair to immediately ask "where's the parent". I think the laws have taken away parents rights to control there kids now a days, and offer little or no support to parents, when they have no idea how to keep these yobs under control.
near where i live there is a gang of 20 youths hanging around drinking, smashing bottles and leaving cans on the streets, the police do arrive to move them on, they spread away and are back there within a hour.
i was brought up to respect my elders and still do, i have a high regard for police, and still believe them to be in authority, i know now a days i am probably in a small minority.
i am only 28, and have a son of 2 1/2, i am petrified of what the future hold for him and his generation.
i wish Amy Newlove and her mum, the best for the future, and i hope that these yobs are caught and strug up, and that the sencences they receive fit the crime, like LIFE should mean LIFE and not early release for good behaviour. |

It's pretty obvious that children are getting less and less parental attention. With the world getting more violent the opposite should occur. What ever happened to getting to know your kids and getting active with their life to make sure that they are not letting it slip away into hatred? |

The world has gone crazy & Britain in particular.
Some of the berks who pass these laws should be put in such a situation. Then they might think again |

people should be able to protect them self from people like this, an the kids today are like men and clearly no what there doing but i guess that goes back to the way they are brought up and there family environment.. i all so think police should have more power like in America. its the parents that need educating, then maybe the children wouldnt so bad. |

Our laws exist to create a safe environment for people who want to break the law, so that they can go about it and, if caught, have a £300/day stay in some 'safer' place. But most of the time they are just given a ticking off and sent back to wreak more havoc. This is the breakdown predicted by Durkheim, Marx, etc. of the capitalist, liberal system. |

It really scares me, when almost every second murder we hear about these days is someone being randomly stabbed. Can people not just have a disagreement and if needs be through a few slaps but where in the name of god did the mentality of, oh i'm in a fight i'll go get a knife, come from? I have to disagree with one of the answers the police or gaurds do not side with Youths, thats ridiculous, its the courts that try to give these toerags a second chance (which they dont deserve) and give them ridiculously inadequate sentences or punishments. Also i think that a person should be able to defend there property against an intruder. I think its disgraceful that you, the inhabitant, can end up being charged for protecting your home and family, its sick. I even heard once of theifs sueing for falling down stairs in a house they were robbing, how f*ck*d up is that? |

I completely agree with you. we have the right to defend our self's, property, and family. the law is wrong saying we don't have this right. we might as well get rid of locks and titles of ownership, put a list of items we own up on the front door and invite all who want to take it to do so. then we need to tell everyone in the land and the world we have no rights's we wont defend our self so co and do as you please. if the government feels this is the correct course of action saying we are not allowed to defend ourselves and property then they should release us from all responsibilities and take them over. i for one will defend and with the appropriate force necessary. and i don't care the consequences. this is how the criminal element will learn . not through nice chit chat. due to the do gooders of the present day if parents could properly punish their children most of this wouldnt happen however in todays society children are allowed a lot more freedom of movement than they should have.
the sad part is that these yobs will not be punished appropriatley and the family will be made to suffer more due to this, and this is tony blairs legacy. |
