This is my sentence:
If I print lies about someone, I'm liable to get sued for libel.
You see liable and libel are two different things.
The punishment for libel is usually a fine, up to the judge's discretion. |

EDIT: BTW why does davidme7 has people voting for him even though his answer is wrong? (hes cheating) He doesn't even know the difference between 'liable' and 'libel'. Also I've checked his account, he always gets the most votes at first. Liable is not a crime, nor even a noun. Liable is an adjective.

Libel is a written/printed statement intended to defame an individual/organization.
