The ACLU champions civil rights guaranteed by the US Constitution.

One can disagree with one, some, or many of the issues the ACLU chooses to press in court, but anyone who thinks that the organization is a "foe" to the United States isn't a real American. And isn't very bright, either.

Everyone hates the ACLU when they want the government to trample on someone *else's* civil rights, but they change their tune when someone else uses the government to trample on theirs.

20 or 30 years ago, Christians in positions such as school principals, librarians etc invariably used their positions to impose Christianity on non-Christian minorities. They hated the ACLU because it stuck up for the rights of those minorities not to have someone else's religion rammed down their throat.

Now, though, the pendulum has swung. Most people in those positions are left wing liberals, and they now try to use their positions to repress the rights of the Christian majority. Who do those Christians turn to to fight for their rights?

Considering that the ACLU has defended both human rights activists and the rights of the KKK, I don't consider them as a foe. They will stand up for the rights of any person, group, or organization that is having their rights trampled on. I do admit that sometimes they go a little overboard.

It used to strike me as odd that the ACLU refused to even recognize the existence, let alone individual protections, of the Second Amendment.

I would have no problem with the ACLU, except for 1 thing:

They defend NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association) which is an organization that promotes and seeks to legalize pedophilia.

A useless mislead organization. Its only pupose is to twist the truth to make the criminal look good and the justice system look bad. I'm not saying the is never any injustices but I think many of the points they push on are crap.
