Am I an American citizen if my dad becomes one?

my dad went and took the test before i was 18
but they scheduled the ceremony for the certificates about a month later and I was 18 then.
my question is. am I considered American citizen or do they count whoever is under 18 after the day of the ceremony?

No. Unless you're born here, or your parents are citizens before you're born, you're not a citizen.

No, you have to go yourself if you want to be one, cuz that will be your dad going to go become one, but will not be you. it's because if he goes your one, you are where ever you were boring from. no matter what age, so if you were born in canada and went to america that your under 18 that you become one, i'm 15 and i know this, google or yahoo it and fine out as well, AKA if your born from one place (canada) you will always be from that place (canada) no matter where you go even if your 13 and go to america |

If you were not born in the US you are not a citizen. However, if you have personally applied with each individual member of your family you should have received some notification of your citizenship status.
You should contact the INS for futher clarification. |

I think you must file separately, but if your dad becomes a citizen while you're still under 21, then you're in luck.
Check the Dept of Homeland Security website just in case, they have lots of information there.

I think that you are not one yet. Take the test. They had the ceremony when you were 18, so you need to do it. |
