Americans: Should gay marriage be allowed or forbidden? Dont forget....?

With the separation of church and state, can the government even legislate what marriage is?? "Marriage" is a religious ceremony to unite 2 people.

If the government wants to have marriage be a lawful union, then they have to come up with an unbias reason (not based in religious belief) that gays should not marry. Because it is stated to be wrong in the bible will not fly in a court of law. Anytime that someone tries to pass a law about marriage being between a man and a woman, it gets struck down as unconstitutional because lawmakers can't come up with a good enough reason other than it's in the bible. Thank God that someone can still look at the law without pulling the bible into the mix.

I seriously think that no one ever expects the law to pass, and it is only done to make "friends" with the "moral majority". If the Christian Right is happy, the funds keep going into the reelection accounts. They can say "well, we tried".

Banned, you cant change the entire institution of marriage because less then 5% of the entire world population is gay, this is a liberal agenda and we are meant to believe that it is the will of the masses, since when did the majority start taking its orders from the minority. Would you be asking this question if the issue was having multiple wives or husbands or if you could marry your sister? I bet you wouldn't but I guarantee that is what is going to be coming next if gay marriage is passed. Once the institution of marriage is compromised everyone with any idea about what marriage should be will come crawling out of the wood work, think about it and tell me you dont think someone some where will try and marry an animal, and once this institution has lost its integrity, what will we have to stop them

No. Gays should go out and start there own type of union outside of the traditional marriage. Marriage is for men and women. Gays have a different reality than straight men and women and should not be allowed to distort the reality of a traditional marriage. I do agree that there should be a civil union of some sort a side from marriage for those who wish it. Marriage is not gay.

Sodom and Gomorrah ring a bell? Aids epidemic, it use to be outlawed in the U.S. Military till Clinton implemented don't ask don't tell policy. When I entered the military, one of the first questioned they asked were, are you a homo. Its kind of difficult to live in tight quarters knowing that there are homos sleeping in the next bunk over. I know a lot of gays that have died. I guess they have the right to sign early death warrants

well i dont really know, i mean in my heart i would say that it should be forbidden. my brother is gay and when i see them together it kind of makes me want to throw up, but he is my brother and hes grown and he is going to hve to face judgement day himself just him and god so he will have to take responsibilty for his sins. But i still love my brother very much i just dont agree with the whole marriage thing

It is something that should be left up to each individual state, the federal governent has no business in it at all. This is an important enough issue to leave it up to the voters.

I think the government should get out of the marriage buisness all together. Why does it need to be defined anyways?

Are conservatives really so insecure that they need to have it written down somewhere? Perhaps those who are pushing for outlawing gay marriage have their own issues.

Call everything a civil union and if you want to get married by god or whomever goto a church.

As far as marriage...i was for domestic partnerships until i heard the argument that

it is a legal agreement. Therefore everyone must be treated equal in the eyes of the law.

For example you need a licence to get married..a legal document, and when you get divorced you do not go to church to get divorced you go to the law.
Under law then yes Gays deverse the same.

So in conclusion if you believe in the equality in the US, then yes.

Gay marraige issue is just a way for evil fascist republicans to keep making public enemies more important than the growing realization that evil fascist republicans have been lying to and manipulating the public.
Its a distraction technique, and that is all it is. A way to get people worked up over nothing because its an emotionally charged issue.

If people wanna have a union, let them have a union, it should be up to them that want to have it, period.

I don't mind that they want to marry. I don't think they should be allowed to have or raise children. The children have a right to know what is normal and what is a choice. Raising a child in a gay marriage would be brainwashing.

All I have to say on that subject is that if the world became gay how would we reproduce, we wouldn't. That's how I come up with the conclusion that there is no such thing as gay it's a choice leave It at that and why label it.

There is nothing wrong with being gay but if a a couple wanted to marry it should be man and woman.
