Ignore Al Gore if that makes you feel better. That has nothing to do with the issue.

Yes, there was a dip in temperatures 20+ years ago, when those studies came out. I was on the east coast when several of those snow storms hit between 1978 and 1986, and they were some of the worst on record at the time.

Then, scientists spend 20 more years gathering data. And found out that their estimates and projections in the 1980s were wrong. So they said they were wrong, and released new studies based on further research.

That's the scientific process. The fact that a politician is trying to spread the message doesn't make the message invalid. Thousands of scientists all around the world, not to mention over a hundred other countries, all agree that there is a problem.

How much of a problem? We don't know. That's why it's worth studying. But if you know you're headed for a cliff, and you're not sure how far ahead the cliff is, doesn't it make sense to start slowing down now, just in case?

It doesn't matter whether or not mankind is the ultimate reason. Greenhouse gases are rising and global warming is happening. Even if the increase is entirely natural, lowering our greenhouse emissions WILL have an effect and could very well save us from ecological disaster. It is our imperative to do everything possible to keep our world inhabitable and lowering greenhouse emissions will most certainly help in that fight. It's so absurd to say, "It's natural, so obviously there's nothing we can do." Would you sit by while our coasts become seafloors?

OMG - read the facts! If you ignore what's so obviously a problem, you are part of the problem. Stop making it a political issue - the environment affects everyone equally. We can't keep living like we do. Too many of you have become cynical, and we are all suffering because of this. Educate yourself. Listen to both sides. You owe it to every person in the world to be more careful and be more aware.

Global warming is real. Why else would the polar ice caps be melting which in turn affects weather patterns and animals. Polar bears are resorting to cannibalism to survive or they drown because their habitat is disappearing. Wake up. Whether you like Al Gore or not global warming is an issue. The Earth's temperature is the highest it's been in 2000 years...that was just released last week. The majority of scientists believe that global warming is a result of humans. There is a very very small group that contests this. Instead of believing that it's propaganda, do some research for yourself and form and educated opinion.

Al Gore and his followers can believe as they like. This is a very debated subject amongst the experts as to the extent of Global warming and cyclic weather patterns. I know Gore has an agenda. I want to see what the experts decide before my opinion is set.

whether al gore's movie is accurate or not is despite the point. global warming is a serious issue that has not reached global awareness (or at least acknowledgment) until now.

the fact that you are on this page discussing this serious issue and making comments about it shows success in itself.

Politics has gotten too much like religion. You are expected to follow the "Holy writ" as handed down to you leader without question. Any attempt to put forth facts that dispute the basic premise are viewed as heresy and must be ridiculed instead of logically debated.

The idea of "Global Warming" is a farce, as far as concerning what causes it. You must remember that eons ago there was another period when the polar icecaps melted. What caused it? Dinosaur farts?

The fact is the Sun has been expanding and therefore heating up areas farther away.

Uh, dude, you must have missed the recent Congressional inquiry, paid for by the Republicans, that found that not only is global warming a reality, it's also caused by humans. You might also have missed the recent summit, where 900 peer reviewed scientific papers were submitted which prove global warming exists, as opposed to the conservative panel, which comprised Michael Crichton, author of Jurrasic Park.

Turn off the O'Reilly and wake up.

The question is not whether predictions made in the 80s came true or not, the question is whether or not our future, and especially our childrens future is at risk by our current actions. And scientists the world over are coming to the same conclusion: we are!

Global Warming is a scare tactic. The only reason it is ever debated in Congress is to pander to voters that actually believe that garbage.

As for Al Gore, he has completely lost it. If he believes so much in this cause, why didn't he do anything when he was in OFFICE!!
