What animals other that cats and dogs....and other stuff like that are legal to have in Pennsylvania? I always wanted a chupcin (i think that's how its spelled) monkey. are they illegal in pa? I want some kind of exotic animal like a fennec fox or sumthing....so can someone give me a list of all of the animals that are legal in pa.
If possible include your source(s) of where u got ur information!!!

Capuchins are very expensive (try $20,000) and most do not do well in captivity. In the wild, they lives in groups and do not do well when they are isolated. Also, as they get older, they tend to be difficult to control.
All monkeys are considered endangered, so you will need a permit that you probably can't get.
You can probably get a fennec fox, but if he ever gets loose, he's gone.
It's never a good idea to keep wild animals as pets. They are totally unpredictable. And monkeys, in particular, are very difficult to keep alive.
I have been a reptile collector for more than 40 years and have also owned a monkey (which died). Foxes may sound like good pets, and they will usually act like dogs, but they can snap. They're not going to kill you, but they can give you a nasty bite. A fox, however he may behave, is not a domesticated animal. He's a wild animal and will act accordingly.
My advice is to forget the monkey and think twice about the fox. |
