I'm morally against the death penalty for anyone. Taking another life is wrong. Just because the state does it, doesn't make it right.

Many who live deserve death, and some who die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Don't be too quick to deal out death in punishment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends.

I feel conflicted about the death penalty. However, I can't say I feel much sympathy for Saddam. I try to imagine how I would feel if my children, parents, sister were victimized and murdered under Saddam. If I was alone on this earth because an evil man killed my sons. I can understand wanting someone to die because of that loss. I try to keep that feeling in mind when I discuss the death penalty. My sympathy is with the victims only.

There is always a brutality about the killing of a human being and it's questionable whether a state should do this. But what bothers me is the timing. Will he be executed now so that more violence erupts and Bush can justify a troop surge.

I would let him live, I believe that if he as well as other criminals were kept alive they would suffer more. By killing them you give them the chance to be "free". What does it really solve?

i am a Kurd from northern Iraq,i know Saddam has killed so many people,,innocent people,children,,woman,,men,,old people...he punished people for being Kurdish or Shiite,,,he was a horrible man,,and i wanted him dead more then anything,,BUT, he was 69 years old,,and i saw the full video of his execution,,and deeply inside i feel bad,,just by the expression on his face,,he was soo scared and nerves,,he didn't want to die especially by hanging,,i saw how he looked right before he was dead and also after he died,,it was horrible. but this is how i feel,,he was evil and he is going to hell no doubt,,i guess i just don't feel comfortable seeing someone die,,and his last few moments,,its just so scary..i think they should have locked him in a strict jail,,and let him live his life in pain,and misery,and a tiny room all to him self until the old man died!!!!! that would have been more punishment then just taking his life,,also i think this will bring even more violence in Iraq,,but i hope to God it doesn't.

When you start to feeling sympathy ask yourself how much sympathy he felt for the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's he had executed.

Ask yourself if he gave it a second thought anytime a child died due to his gasing the Kurds.

I'm not completely comfortable with executing anyone but if there is anyone that deserves to die for his deeds, it is Saddam.

As an Iraqi, I feel that anyone who makes their country suffer as much as Saddam did when he ruled, should suffer the consequences. But, though this is not an excuse for his behavior, Saddam didn't live as well as you thought he might have, from when he was in his mother's womb and until the day he died. I just think that it's nobodys decision, except God, who lives and who dies, no matter what the crime. And knowing that everyone hates you, and ridiculing you until the last breath is just icing on the cake. May he rest in peace, and may God forgive him for all the wrongdoings in his life.
