Anyone know about business purchase agreements?

I am the seller of a business and have written the purchase agreement myself. The agreement was not notarized. I now work for the buyer. I have signed the agreement which included a non-compete clause and an agreement to work there for 2 years. I want to leave and take a job offer at the competition. Reason being is that I am not getting any of my overtime hours and being treated poorly. Does anyone know if I have to comply with the agreement if it was never notarized?

Yes, you do. All notorization does is provide evidence on the legality of the signing. Unless you intend to commit fraud and claim you didn;t sign it, notorization means nothing.
However, you might speak to a lawyer. Depending on the terms of the agreement, you state MAY not allow the non compete clause to be enforced. But it all depends on the terms and wording of the clause. it's a long shot, but it may work. |

In the US, an contract doesn't even have to written, let alone notarized, to be valid.
Before you violate a non-compete clause, contact an attorney. It can really cost you, big time.
