Applicability/Duration of a Written Contract?

I have a contract with another party, and basically, they owe me money. The terms of the contract were breached about 2 years ago. It is signed and dated and the terms are clearly spelled out. I need to know, can I still take this person to court to enforce the terms of this contract? How long do I have? I have not been able to address this issue until now because I simply did not have the resources. Also, I understand that a contract does not have to be notarized to be considered a legal document... this is true, correct?

Yes it is true that it does not have to be notarized to be legally binding. Normally there is a statute of limitations and it is usually two years, but it depends, sometimes it can be three years.
