Are GUNS or are they NOT cowards weapons?
|
Other than military and/or police, people don't need hand guns. Additional Details So, some of you are saying you are going to have a shootout. Others are saying someone is robbing you with a brick and you pull out your gun so he can take it from you and shot you dead. Very intelligent!

I can appreciate why you may feel that way. Everyone is entitled to their opinion - it is America. I happen to disagree with you. Many more people are killed by cars than guns - does that mean we should outlaw automobiles? Most people feel that automobiles are a necessity and most feel that guns are a necessity for protection.
Unfortunately, as with plastic wrap, alcohol, automobiles, bathtubs and swimming pools - there will always be a small number of deaths associated with guns.
I feel pretty proud of America. We have a Constitutional right to bear arms - and millions of people own guns - yet we have a very small number of deaths due to gun ownership. That's pretty good!
PS Sorry about your son; however, he may have survived if he had a gun to protect himself. |

Yes they do need guns, because criminals will always find ways to get them illegally. And they are the number one thing that stops riots, as well as grant protection from criminals when police are not around. Gun control is NOT THE AMERICAN WAY!!! |

No they are not cowards weapons. They are efficient and effective tools for protecting what is yours, and one can also hunt with them. |

spoken like a true liberal.
Guns are just tools. If it were not a gun it would be a stick, a sword, or a rock.
Cain killed Able with a rock. It was not the rocks fault.
Guns were invented to protect people. Protect from hunger.. From invaders, or from whatever is there that is trying to hurt you or take your possessions. |

I have had concealed carry permits for 4 years now, and have carried in a legal and responsible manner. I served for 20 years in the U.S. armed forces. If I could carry weapons on your behalf, I can certainly carry on mine.
You never know what the bad guy is carrying, and I have a family to protect. When a bad situation comes down, I don't want to have to say "excuse me Mister Bad Guy, time out -- GAME OFFFFF -- while I call the police to protect me."
If you want to judge my use of my second amendment rights, kindly present your credentials. |

Yes they do. Where I live the Sheriff no longer has funds to conduct patrols. Their response time is 45 minutes to a call. If someone is trying to break down your door, 45 minutes is a long time to wait. I live in rural Ohio. |

The last thing I want is only the military and police having weapons. Its a good thing Hitler's dead, or you'd probably advocate his campaign. |

I agree with answer #1. The criminals will have them weather or not they are legal here. It will only be the good ones that follow the law that will need them. Look how often they assult others already. And if you take away guns from the people that really need them, you are giving them all the more reason to create anarchy, and there would be nothing else we can do to protect ourselves. |

Yes, I'm such a wuss. Next time someone points a gun at me I should threaten them with my knife. Move to Canada, there, people get stabbed instead of shot, does that make you feel better?
Hey Mr. Marine, why don't you try, reading the d**mned question. She clearly states other than military and or police.
Boy I love how some people get all self righteous after serving a tour. I know plenty of guys who've been shot at done some shooting and even been shot and they don't play that "defend freedom" card. Have some humility. |

Well, if no criminals had guns, you might very well be right. But the fact is criminals do not care if guns are illegal, so, if you own a store and don't want to get robbed at gunpoint all the time, buy a shotgun, put it on display behind the counter, etc. It's nice to think 'what if...' but thats not reality. |

Jeez, can anyone figure out how to put together a sentence, and liberals say gun owners are the stupid people...
No, guns should not be taken away, guns ownership is a constitutionally protected right. Have you heard of the 2nd amendment? Why do all liberals want to take people's guns away? Law abiding citizens should have the right to own guns because no matter how much gun control laws Liberals pass, criminals will always be able to get guns. |

The 1st one to draw a weapon (any kind), is a coward.
The 2nd one is defending himself.
99% of the time, criminals are the first ones to draw a weapon. |

WOW!!! Ok, guns are necessary outside of the military and civil defense systems. Robbers, Rabid Animals, and so on. Guns are not coward weapons, they are the primary means of defense in most countries. If that were the case, a person who was being robbed and pulled out a 12 gauge so that he could defend himself would be a coward, makes no sense. See what I mean? |

yes we do need them.If we dont have them only criminals will have them.and you cant protect your family. |

Wait till someone comes to your door and demands your life or money. I suspect you'll whistle a different tune then comrade. That is why we have guns, to protect ourselves from terrorists on all levels. Even the ones sitting on the left side the of the political isle in congress, who would like to see this country fall. |

the guy climbing your stairs at night with rope and duck tape agrees, as long as police can't be everywhere I have a right to defend my family and myself in my home, I am not a coward, I'm a 120 pound female and a my gun is a great equalizer. |

tell me how you feel when a criminal holds you at gunpoint. Although you might be able to get out your brick tazer before he shoots you. |

Guns are merely tools. They allow anybody to defend themselves against larger or stronger people. That's why they used to be called equalizers. They make brute strength immaterial. I personally don't own or use guns. I used to have guns, but no longer have any around because I know that for me, they are too much of a temptation. |

Come try to take my gun.
That is how many Americans feel, (me included). We have the right to bear arms in this country and that will NEVER change. With the security being so lax in this country, crime being so high, illegal immigrants influxing into the country unchecked, the economy starting to dip, and terrorists in this world trying to kill Americans, just for 'being Americans' .... NO WAY will anyone ever take my right to defend my family away from me.
I am not a violent person, but will defend what is mine with deadly force.
Here in rural Missouri, I would actually feel kinda sorry for anyone who tried to attack us. Nearly every home here has a gun, or has a relative who does. My brother is a gunsmith and demanded that as a single mom living alone, that I learn to use, clean, and be safe with a gun.
I now own a .38 hand gun, and would not hesitate to use it, quite accurately, ( i am a pretty good shot), if myself or my family were threatened.
Think of this.......... what if on 9-11, they had succeeded in destroying our Financial, Miliatary, and Executive centers?
They were aiming for the White House ya know.
It is not far fetched to think that these terrorist attacks are not over. They are making new plans everyday.
When that attack happened.... people around here were standing at attention.... with our guns.
All those who whine about guns will be thankful when we, the gun owners, stand up and defend our country if that time ever comes.
Be thankful, and be honest. Isn't there apart of you that is really happy that we, the responcible gun owners, are out here?
God Bless all those who serve in the military to defend us with a gun,
God Bless the police officers and reserve forces on American soil who defend us with a gun,
God Bless the NRA, (National Rifle Association), and all those who support it.
God Bless those who educate us on proper, safe, handling of guns.
And ... God bless anyone who stands up for their rights to be maintained in this country. We are losing for too many of our freedoms.
Be an American and stand up for yourself and your neighbor against those who try to take away our RIGHTS! |

There are many reasons a person would carry a hand gun, other than just the military or the police. Security guards, armored truck drivers, or the average citizen who has obtained a license legally, to protect themselves or others due to a high risk job. Even the every day person could have one for protection from crime. As long as a person is trained and knows how to use the gun, it is also a good idea to teach your children respect for any weapon. |

They are. I mean, to me any kind of weapon is a coward weapon, is it not? I mean, it's like saying 'I can't inflict enough pain on you myself, so I'll get this machine to do it." Though, I understand that since some people have them, other people need them to defend themselves. It's a double edged sword, darlin'.
For some people, they help even the playing feild. It's not black and white, this issue is VERY grey.
I also dislike weapons because they have stricken fear into to many hearts, hurt to many people, ruined to many lives and given power to too many evil souls. |

No, they're not coward's weapons. They're prudent people's weapons and your assumption is false.
Perhaps you should deal with your own "issues" rather than project onto society at large. |
