I concern myself only with what is criminal or non-criminal as tested by natural law. Not "moral" law which sets standards for right and wrong based on the opinions of a majority. Truth and justice is not dependent on the opinion of a majority of a society.
There is a fear on the left of a religious theocracy.
They speak often of this fear without realizing an agnostic majority could also easily create what amounts to a theocracy, criminalizing “sin”, in their eyes, against the will of the “lord”, the majority.
The whole point of the Constitution is to prevent a majority, be it religious or agnostic, socialist or democratic from imposing law based on what any of them may see as right or wrong. What is just or unjust under natural law is all that should matter to a moral society.

As an agnostic feel moral values are what you state. The word morals tends to be used for personal behavior. Organized religion tend to define morals in terms of what will benefit them the most. |
