Regarding mainly to the Palestine-Israel conflict. Israel has Intelligence networks to pinpoint planned attacks and take out locations before Palestinians can attack Israel. This isn't for school, I would just like to know people's opinion.
Please don't take sides regarding other aspects of the conflict itself.

I think so. As long as the pre-emptive strike is limited to a military target (ie, rocket making factory), I don't have a problem with it. I'd rather see a munitions dump get blown up than a school bus. |

I don't have an issue with it, as long as the intel is clear, concise, up to date, confirmed by several sources, and doesn't consist of some fable regarding a non-existent cache of WMDs. |

Any pre-emptive strike that saves lives of your people is not only ethical, but ethically required. The first role of any government is to guarantee the continued lives of its citizens. |

Pre-emptive wars, such as the occupation of Iraq, I have problems with.
Pre-emptive strikes, ie, tactical responses to ongoing intelligence regarding clear and present dangers to a nation and its citizens, I'm totally in agreement with. Such as Israel's taking out of the Damascus nuclear facility, or the one in Baghdad back in the 90s. |

Maybe a better question should be: Are "post-emptive" strikes un-ethical?
In other words, if you are going to argue that preemptive strikes are always unethical then that logically means that you must wait to be attacked before attacking. That being the case, if you take that course of action, you are deliberately waiting for your own civilians or soldiers to be killed first. That, to me, is unethical. |

Yes, preemptive strikes are ethical. The only other option is to wait for the attack that the preemptive strike may prevent, which could cost the lives of innocent people. IMO, it's ethically superior to save the lives of innocents than spare the lives of attackers. |
