Reading books ; Taking notes ; Taking pictures with cameras ; Sending the pictures to others ; Uploading pictures of books on blogs.

Barnes and Noble has made a huge business of allow people to take as much time as they wish. They do quite well. Taking notes is fine, but I think if you take pictures of the people in the store you would be asked to leave. |

taking notes in book stores arnt ilegal depending on what type of notes reading a book in detail might be a problem however taking photos certanly is and publishing them more so .. ur not alowed to copy any book without permission taking photos is doing just that |

Most bookstores are private property, so they set the limits and can ask you to leave whenever they like. They do not commonly do this because they have found that the more often you visit and the longer you to stay in the store, the more you buy. That (and the fact that it reduces theft) is why they give you coffee and encourage you to stay and read. |

Usually that "free loading" does eventually lead to a purchase...whether it be an actual book, cd, or in their deli or coffee shop...and that's what they want.
Now, the taking pictures...unless they're a mystery shopper on a revealed audit...I can't imagine them allowing that at all...because what's inside their doors is proprietary. |
