Are the American people just to lazy to protest and stand up against corruption?

I don't care who it is, I am sick and tired of seeing Americans lay down and accept corruption. I don't care who it is being corrupt. The rule of law states we are all to abide by the law. That includes the President of the United States. And actually, it would seem to me that the president should be held to the highest level of accountability. President Bush blatently broke the law when he listened into our conversations and tortured prisoners. What is the point in having rights given to us if we are just going to allow people to trample upon them? Be it the president, be it google maps invading our right to privacy, a bank, a cop, an attoney, a judge, an administrative agency, Whoever! Those who do not abide by the law should be punished. The law should apply to all! It is our duty as the people, to stand up when corruption is affoot. If we're to lazy to do that, we may as well just flush the constitution down the toilet.

I don't know if lazy is the right word.Maybe to a degree.I think"take for granted" might be more correct in how most Americans go about these type things.Country definitely needs to wake up

Yes American people are lazy or just too unconcerned about the "big picture" one.If it's not personally happening to them they say" that's not my concern" and don't think about anymore. When their time comes (and it will) they"re crying about the injustice of it all. WAKE UP AMERICA !

U are really Patriotic American. I salute to your brave idea.

I understand your frustration, at least now we have a president that will say that torture is wrong. The legal system takes a while to gear up, give it a few months-hopefully by then a few indictments will be handed out.

Not all the American people are too lazy.(but you're warm) . . you might start by reading articles in Truthout zine or the LAT or NYT editorial pages. Political cartoons and comics often go along with your view: today there was a little girl whapping the bug on her phone with a rolled up copy of the Constitution. Check out last Sunday's Doonesbury. If you live in a city, you might consider volunteering at Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International or the ACLU for starters. heck out the bulletin boards at local colleges. Good Luck and one person can get things rolling. Thanx.

America is Full:
Our system of Justice, revolves around Money,Time,
and Patience's. Most everyone in the federal
government is protected from being sued, and
covered for the cost. Even as we speak, there are 82,000 troops in training, to protect the bureaucracy
in Washington, you can believe this, there is rising fear
in Congress, of the people that they are supposed to represent. Its not so much laziness, but rather a
endless helpless plea.

I agree with you to a certain extent, but then again what does a protest accomplish? Nothing. The people that need to do something are those that are in the government (judicial system). That's why they are elected/appointed.

So we should all write really long rants on Yahoo Answer in protest? I've seen enough protests in public. Justice Department is looking at past years regarding tortures and probably other actions taken in past years. We can't bypass law going after those you think broke the law. Laws apply to all.
