On Wikipedia it says they are, I just want confirmation.

I didn't think so, but the Mint's web site claims they are: http://www.ramint.gov.au/designs/ram-designs/1c.cfm
So unless something has changed since they withdrew them from circulation, I suppose you could ask a bank to deal with them for you.
According to the Currency Act 1997 you can only spend up to 20c of them at a time. However shops are still within their right to refuse.

No, no one uses them anymore, a lot of people still collect them though, so you might be able to trade it to someone for real money. But apart from that, i don't think you can exchange them. |

They aren't used as currency any more, and you can't exchange them because they aren't legal currency. |

For a while, after the coins were removed from circulation, banks would convert them to something usable.
I am not sure as to whether it is still the case, but the last I heard, SOME would, but would also charge a fee to do it. I can only suggest a ring around, or inquiries through the internet. |
