Can they hide in a parking lot or behind a car just to catch someone speeding, etc. ? Or is that not supposed to be done?

It depends what state your in. In most cases no but that's never stopped them before. |

Hey you think that is bad...they have installed RED LIGHT CAMERAS at intersections....when you go through a red it snaps a picture and if you've gone through, you get a ticket in the mail....see ya in court...that either makes you comply or gets you plenty of tickets and off the road!! ;~) |

Yes. They do that all the time and there are hidden photo radar cameras too. The speed limit is posted and if you don't follow it, you are guilty. It doesn't matter how they catch you. |

Yes they can. Many people try to say this is "entrapment," but entrapment is if you entice someone to do something illegal and then arrest them for it. If you are speeding, you are breaking the law of your own free will, and they have a right to park anywhere that is public property to catch you. (p.s. Many parking lots are private. This has been used before to get tickets thrown out of court.) |
