Are you a supporter of National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML)?

I don't really know what all NORML supports, but I am in favor of reforming those laws. I don't see it happening though, well not until the government figures out a way to regulate and tax it. For instance, with tobacco, if you want to grow it, every year you are alloted a certain number of tobacco slips, you have to get these from a governmment regulated institution. This is how they get their piece of it.The same goes with alcohol. If you buy it legally, it's gonna have a tax sticker on it. With marijuana, the plants produce seeds that you can keep till the next year and plant them without the gov. knowing, so they can't regulate or tax it. As a child of the late 60's and 70's, from experience, I know that it can affect reaction time, but it doesn't last long. As long as your not smoking it while driving or immediately afterwards, it shouldn't be counted as driving under the influence. Alcohol is MUCH worse where that is concerned cause it takes a lot longer for the effects to wear off, hence the need for drunk tanks. Yet it is still legal to purchase and use it. As long as it is, there will be a need for laws to keep people from drinking and driving. I don't feel marijuana is a gateway drug. First, it's an herb, and I've known many people in my life that never went to something stronger. That is a convenient excuse for people who have no self control. It has many healing qualities. It can be used for pain control, and when someone is taking chemo it helps with the nausea and allows them to be able to eat when they wouldn't be able to otherwise. If your going to jump up on your soapbox about something and you haven't experienced it yourself, at least do some research.

I saw something funny last summer while in Virginia Beach.
18th St is the location of the Virginia Beach Police (Tidewater district) Right in front of the Police building is one of those "Adopt a Highway" signs... They have a name of a group or organization that has funded that stretch of road.

Yea those laws should be reformed. Why is Pot illegal when it is less imparing than any other drug.

I don't smoke pot or even drink alcohol, but I have never seen the point of keeping marijuana illegal. Seems to be a waste of our legal system's time and money.

I am in full support of the laws and penalties about drunken driving, and would support similar laws about driving while high.

Totally, in my younger days my friends used to call me Dr. Green-thumb. I was known as a grow master. I have read every book on the subject and was even thinking about applying for a Federal License to grow pot for research. You can get these but their is a sh*t load of paper work. This will make you exempt from the law. You can grow for the research purposes.......

Yes, marijuana helps with glaucoma and other sickness's.. It needs to be passed as a law for people who are sick, they can use is. It's also good for cancer patients, it's a proven fact that Marijuana and cure cancer. Lets make it legal...

Marijuana is better by far than alcohol so I guess I am a supporter of NORML.

My girlfriend is a drug councilor and they don't even screen for marijuana any more. They think the illegality of it is a joke.

I haven't seen them accomplish anything useful or even get wide publicity since I was in HS in the 1970s. I think it is time for a new organization, as I have written here many times.

We don't need to reform marijuana laws. We need to eliminate them. Slide them under the same laws as alcohol, problem solved.

I own my body. It is none of the government's business what I do with it, so long as I don't harm others.

No, it does impair your reaction time and there is no way to test you to see if you are under the influence on the spot as they do with alcohol. Unfortunately my 6 year old niece was killed by a drunk driver and I think that more of this would take place if Marijuana were made as easily acceptable as alcohol.

No. Only because it will enable the black market to grow. I feel that if it is made legal, then the prices are going to soar. As a recovering addict, I don't feel that legalization of addictive drugs or substances is the way to combat drug addiction. And I don't buy the fact that it is medically beneficial either. I've smoked hundreds of pounds of the stuff and I need bifocals, can't deal with bright light, and have difficulty discerning dark colors from one another.
