Against. "Separate but equal" civil unions are constitutionally incorrect and ethically incorrect.
Separate is not equal.
Marriage is a union between two consenting adults. |

Against. Gay marriage helps the economy by attracting tourism.
Marriage represents true love.
True love can be between a man & a woman, two men, or two women.............gender does not define true love.
and calling it something other than "marriage" is degrading and insulting.
A lot of closed-minded people are afraid to redefine marriage.
But the definitions of words change all the time.
The word "gay" used to mean "happy."
Even "marriage" had a different meaning;
it used to mean a union between "a white man and a white woman."
Some people who don't feel strongly about the issue present an alternative idea:
"Stop having the government define marriage, and leave it to the churches."
Now that I would support.....that's actually a good idea because it would create marriage equality.
But in a situation where straight people can get married and gay people can't.........that's discrimination against gays and that's unequal. |
