Against:
- Mistakes happen. In the last 35 years in the U.S., 130 people have been released from death row because they were exonerated by DNA evidence (DNA is not available in most homicide cases).
- It costs taxpayers MUCH more to execute someone than to imprison them for life.
- Violent crime rates are HIGHER in death penalty jurisdictions.
- It is inconsistently and arbitrarily applied.
- Jesus was against it (see Matthew 5:7 & 5:38-39, James 4:12, Romans 12:17-21, and John 8:7).
- Life without parole (LWOP) is on the books in most states now, and it means what it says. People who get this sentence are taken off the streets. For good. |

I'm against it but I'm all for torture, some people deserve that more than the quick escape of death. |

I am against because it is wrong and does not work.
1) It is known that the death penalty reduces murder in countries or states that have the death peanlty.
2) Most murders are crimes of passion that are unlikely to commit future murders.
3) It is more for punitive than justice. Justice can be served just easy behind bars.
4) Wisconsin does not have a death penalty. But Jeffery Dahmer did not last six months before the prisoners meted out thier own justice to him.
5) It is an easy way out in stead of rotting behind bars.
6) It is alot cheaper for the state to keep the murdere behind bars than executing them.
7) There is no way for those wronglyfully convicted and executed to get justice and freedom. |

Against. Life is cheaper, prevents an innocent person from being executed, and they suffer more. |

Against it. Just because of all of the innocent people who have died, and how their families now have to suffer for the rest of their own lives, all because people are too stupid to realize it's a lot cheaper to just lock them up for the rest of their lives. They don't have to offer parole or anything, geez!
The U.S. government is a f*ckin serial killer. Should we fry them too? |

Against.
These people are incapable of life--that's why they target other human beings to abuse, rob, murder, etc.
So, if they all want to die if they can't g on getting their kicks molesting others, the worst thing we can do to them is lock them up, control their every move and compel them to go on existing but not being able to bully or harm free citizens ever again. I want them to suffer, as long as possible. And to be studied by scientists who may find a way to prevent such madness.
you lose all that if you give them what they want. |

I feel like this. Even though he decided to take another man's life, I have no right to take away his even if I was a judge. And I don't know if you believe in God or not. But if you did something wrong would you want God to treat you like that. Also in the Bible it says that no sin is greater than another. So should an thief or an adulterer be given the death penalty? What about you do you deserve the death penalty for the wrong that you have done. Or do we all deserve the chance for repentance? I say lock them up, but let God deal with them. |

Against it. And I will tell you why:
I think we should lock up those creeps forever and throw away the key, because killing them costs taxpayers WAY more (including the required appeals) than housing them for life. Why should we have to pay for them to die comfortably when we can save money by just letting them rot in a tiny cell forever? It's not like we need to give them a luxurious place to live and a gourmet diet. If it were me, I'd rather die than spend the rest of my life regretting my idiotic actions and desperately pining for my freedom. Why grant them this relief? Are you on THEIR side or what?? |

Murderers, rapists and child molesters should be kicked off the planet, or turned into worm food. Either way.

I am for it, It's a just punishment that fits the crime, not to mention the fact that it cut's down on repeat offenders. God bless. |

I am for it. First of all the person committing a crime that warrants the death penalty under modern law has committed a heinous act. They know they face the death penalty if caught, not all but many do. Thirdly they have clearly demonstrated the world is a better place without them, why should we put more value on their life than they did on someone else's.Why should tax payers be burdened with supporting this person through the prison system, when if you qualify for the death penalty and don't receive it you will probably be in prison the rest of your life. Lastly why should they get the opportunity to live out the rest of their life when they have denied another the same right, and offered them no choice in the matter. |

For. Eye for an eye. If you murder someone then you deserve to die yourself. Also, why should tax dollars be spent to harbor people who will never be released back into society? Also, do away with death row. Let's be civil and give them a timely death. Public hangings and firing squads should be adequate. I bet it would deter further murderous crimes. |

For, and it should be used only when necesary. Like rapists should get the electric chair or a .45 Hollow point to the chest. |

I am for it, but only for very violent and particularly notorious murderers. There are multiple levels of murders. Some are accidents. Others are due to negligence or passionate rants. |

For death penalty, especially if they are executed the same way they killed their victim. |

If you support the Capital Punishment you support absolute political control and domination by government at it's sickest extreme.
There are approximately 3,000 prisoners currently living on Death Row. No other country in the world has this many of it's citizens awaiting execution. |
